Ecu Swap Kit - Tibminn's Rd2 Is Successfully Swapped!
The ECU solution for Turbo cars we've been waiting for is finally available.
Here's what it will contain.
16bit Siemens ECU (Korean spec)- set specifically for each customer
ECU Swap harness
MAP sensor
Crank Position Sensor
Customers will have to specify these items when ordering:
Turbo specs
Injector size
Compression Ratio
Intercooler size
Intercooler piping size
The key benefit of this kit are:
1. Maintain the ability to pass emissions easily.
2. $$$ less than a stand alone unit
3. Much safer than piggyback units
4. Ease of installation.
Negatives:
1. You will lose cruise control - may be added later.
2. Limited tuning ability - You will essentially have a "stock" turbo car that will repond well to bolt-ons. If you change any of your major components, a reflash is all it will take.
Pricing is going to be around $500-$600

and what if I have MAP based Tib (Korean Spec) will the kit be different?
For those of you with MAP sensors already, we'll have to take a look at your ECU wiring diagram. If it's the same as the Korean ECU, it may be as simple as sending a flashed ECU with your specs.
And how could you know the wiring? Would the serial number of the car (VIN number) and ECU serial number be enough for you to determine?
Also, I guess it will also be possible to have a special set unit for NA cars, but preset to work with high octane gasoline (97 RON) and semi-increased compression 10,6~10,9 : 1 [like what you achieve changing to 1.8 pistons and BetaII head gaskett]?

alright.. few questions.... would this ECU swap harness be a splicing to existing type deal, or having to replace whole thing.. this would in fact eliminate the MAF on US based tibs, im understanding that correctly right?
what would u say the swap over on a scale of 1-10. 1 being someone who barely can change spark plugs.. 10 being someone who can overhaul a motor and install a complete turbo kit themselves..
would i be able to piggyback onto the ECU like i am now, for more precise tuning.. i know dumb question, but i already have all the stuff i need for piggyback, and its easy to tune..

just a couple things.
who will this be through?
in my book 500 is pretty high compared to the other solutions when you can't keep cruise. if it kept cruise then 500 would probably be good. 600 is still really high though, thats almost standalone.
what would the process be if we needed a reflash?

So this will pass emissions you say?
So is someone going to come to california and tune the car on a dyno?
Also are you aware that the ODB II and ECU plug in are necessary to pass emissions in my state as well as others?
How come factors such as exhaust width, manifold style, downpipe, head work, intake manifold, avg temp, and altitude are not being considered?
Will we also have access to the software to tune the system?

Alright, here goes...
I'm pretty sure we can just send you guys a flashed ECU.
Yes, everything the koreans have EVER done you'll have access to with the new ECU.
You will have to splice into the MAF sensor wires leaving existing connector for emissions testing. The MAP will run off the MAF wires.
I'd say 3 maybe a 4.
no
I will serve as the Liason to save you guys shipping, but the main company is DTM Speed.
The primary goal of this setup is to be able to pass emissions easily. Piggybacks and standalones don't have that ability unless you go with Alpine, which is what I had before. Piggybacks don't come close to matching the performance of a real turbo ECU either. The Standalone's don't have cruise either.
Id probably send you another ECU with a deposit and refund it once we got yours back.
Yes, the idea is to swap out the new ECU with your stock ECU along with stock injectors and MAF sensor. Essentially this kit provides an easy way to return your vehicle to stock when passing emissions.
We can customize ever setup, but the ones I mentioned were the main ones.
Still working on possibilities, but at the moment all reprogramming will be done in Korea. We've already got ECU data for just about any setup imaginable and what you get will be a 99% solution. The ECU will also adapt to your vehicle for better performance.
Since everyone loves dynos, here's my old dyno comparing my Alpine set (red) to my new setup (blue). Both setups were at 10psi. I have since raised boost levels and currently pushing over 300whp as my daily driver.
why don't my quotes work? Can some one fix it? Thanks
