you're right you just need to either activate or desactivate the purge valve..
the haltec should be able to control this with a little relay
worst case install a switch in the gas cap door so it wil lactivate the purge valve when you open it

i thought about this and figured... maybe a switch near flammable fluids is not a good idea

Still having the problem
The valve is just a plain negative and positive..
I connected the valve straight to the battery and did not hear or smell anything (car was off)...
Went to the pump 2 days later and saw no difference (didnt expect anything since i had already driven the car for a couple of days)..
Im curious as to when this sucker opens..
If i remember right, the thing periodically opens while driving... yet someone told me this weekend that it opens everytime the car is turned on and off..
Any suggestions?
Just to update this..
The Evap receives a constant voltage on ignition.. However, it is controlled on a ground switch.
Ive been playing around with it, and i have managed to be able to pump "normally" lately.

happend to me a couple days ago... same exact problem.... and the check engine light was on... took it to the dealer and they replaced the purge valve under warranty.... no more fill up problems... but still a check engine light... im taking it back on wed.... ill let u know what happend this time...
haha now that i read the thread fully.... i dont have a standalone ecu.
im all stock... but have had the same problem you are talking about. They changed the purge valve and all seems well now.
just making sure there is no confusion. i am stock. lol
