I've also enquired after the Apline kit.

Mario - does the kit come with an exhaust manifold/header?

Also, I would like to know, how the hell all you turbo people get insurance!!!
I have enough problems getting insured with my current mods - let alone with a turbo or superhcharger!!

Yes it comes with the exhaust manifold, in truboland you couldn't say headers. Come with everything if you keep the original filter box which I do not recommend. Need two mandatory gauges, boost pressure and exhaust temp (to avoid going too lean) to watch your temp from riseing more than say 1400 degrees, if so you are going too lean and it is dangerous for the engine. Mine remains below 1100 at this time. We will see when I increase the boost.

Mario, are you looking to upgrade your fuel system for more gas to the engine so you are not running lean? Meaning the fuel pump, injectiors or anything like that?

And if anyone finde out if the turbo setup is compatible with a 1.8L drop me a line

Mario or anyone who knows:

What else will I need to buy to bolt the turbo kit on. I'm ordering one tomorrow and was wondering about other needed parts..turbo timer and boost controller? Will it bolt onto the stock downpipe? Is there a boost gauge included?

I just want to be prepared so I can get it going soon as possible. thanks

I see everyone here is talking about the Alpine Turbo.....what are the main differences between the Alpine SC and Turbo? What mods do you have to have done to your car to get the SC? What are the differences between Rimmer and Alpine for the SC's? What kind of power do you get with the ALpine SC? Any other info you guys can give about it would be great. I was thinking very much about getting the Alpine Turbo in the future, but since ALpine offer's a SC, I may go back to that route...not sure though. Thanx!

Fast.Shark, I wish I could install it myself. It requires a competent tongue.gif mechanic which I am not. I'm at least gonna give it a shot. I won't be able to install the head gasket though. Luckily I have a mechanic friend so I can save some cash that way.

2000LST, the main difference between the two is that the SC makes ~200hp/205torque. The Turbo makes ~225hp/230torque plus you can up the boost with a boost controller to make mad boost. Easily 250/260hp. Both these mods are bolt on with no other mods needed although a turbo timer is good to cool off the turbo.

In my opinion the Rimmer is a total rip off judging by the numbers and cost. The Alpines are both $1900...with the turbo you also get the intercooler!! Great deal! They are both MAFS compatible.

I was strongly debating whether to get the SC over the Turbo because I feel that a SC is safer on the engine. But, you can't increase the boost on the SC so you'd have to go other routes to get the same power the Turbo makes which adds more money, etc. The one good thing about the SC is the power is instantaneous, no turbo lag. Two-sided coin. Hope this helps. cya.

You can increase boost to a limited degree with the SC. Smaller pulley's on the supercharger itself will speed it up and give you higher boost.

I do not believe that alpine offers this option, however, you could get a machine shop to make you a smaller pulley.

Hello people. I guess the question that I needed to ask about the Alpine Turbo is will I need to get a new cat for the conversion, or will the old cat work as well? I already have 2.5 inch pipe to the cat-back, with exhaust. I also would like to know what other things might be needed for the kit (i.e. Blow off valve, turbo timer, gauges, etc.). Working overtime to get the money together for the kit. One more thing, would anyone know what the general price a garage would charge for an installation? Thanks in advance people.
