alpine turbo kit
I am thinking about tbuying the alpine turbo kit and i was wondering how hard it is to install the 2 new head gaskets for the decompression plate and installing the decompression plate. Does anybody have any pics or step by step guide on how to? Is it necessary to install these? or can you run the alpine kit without them. Thanks.

I've heard that the Alpine Turbo barely gives a boost to the Tiburon's horsepower. It does increase some, but I've heard that it's not much. Make sure it's worth the money and time you're going to invest. Just something to think about before you spend the money. wink.gif
there are a few people on the boards that are running the alpine kit. the only draw backs i have heard of is the unichip and the head spacer.
the unichip can only be reprogrammed at a unichip dealer and the head spacer is not a good idea to use. the kit can run with out the spacer but you wont be able to run over 7-10psi boost on stock pistons.
the people that are running the kit usually use the msd and safc for tunning. the kit as a whole is a good kit but you will spend more money on other things to get it to run good.
no matter which way you go with turbo's, you will spend quite a bit of money getting it to run. in the end it all depends on what your looking for in power.
i am running a custom turbo system and i have spent the same amount as people buying kits.
the alpine kit is'nt bad but there is more needed than what the kit supplies.
search around and see what you can find. i know on HA.com there are a few people using that kit like 2 uniq and a couple of others.

what is the draw backs from using the unichip? I thoght was suspose to be really good for tuning and making the turbo run good? Also why do you not recondmend using the decompression plate/head spacer? Will the car be fine runing 9psi with out it?
Well the unichip "you need a dealer near you" + Tuning costs since it is elite and needs to be programed by a tech it can be a bit expensive.
The decompression plate is ok but it is a make shift way to decrease the compression. (its a cheaper alternative) plus its limits are less than what you would do with pistons (but hay it works)
In the end its up to you, if you want to run the alpine kit as it comes with what they recommend (psi limits) then do it, but if you want more power then you would have to part with more $$$ for changes, otherwise you can cause damage.
No company would release a kit that won't work.
for sure it has potential but you will need to splash more scrilla to unleash the full wrath.
