since the stock MAF dies after about 260ish WHP ... can you use an aftermarket MAF with the SAFC to tune above that? much like using a larger injector? or would you have to go stand alone or have Real engineering re program your ECU?

Default aftermarket MAF + SAFC

reprogramming an ECU is just a temporary work around. everytime you upgrade something on your car you'll have to get it reprogrammed. if you can afford it standalone is the best thing to do. an S-AFC will not make an aftermarket MAF work. you'll need a MAF translator like the ones DSM people use when they put a corvette MAF on their cars.

aftermarket MAFs are possible, youll just need to find one that has the same voltage range as ours does. or, if you are real apt with electronics, find any one you want and use some kind of resistor to bring down the voltage, and hope it will still fall in the correct range you need.

dweet, you got a link for a MAF translator? id like to read up on them a bit.

Default Carbon fiber hood weigh difference?

i really dont know, but are the increments the same though?

just because something has a 5v maf, does it mean that at that specific MAf's 3.3v our hyunda ecu will be reading the same amount of air as the sentra?

im pretty sure it is, but just want to be positive.

good read on MAF sensors for anyone who wants to know how they work...

true, but most likely it will work just fine. If I ever max mine out I will try using something different, it's worth a shot!

Hey thanks for that link Tibby01, it's nice to know stuff like that.

So what happens if you exceed the limit (in terms of hp) for the MAF sensor and ECU. Does the car just run crappy, going lean/rich or will it cause mechanical problems like misfiring and detonation? Is the only cure a standalone with an aftermarket ECU??

i should have put this in my original post. With a GReddy E Manage once the MAF is maxed out you can use a MAP sensor as well with the E Manage. So not only does it take the stock maf's reading in acct before it hacks the signal before it gets to the ECU, it takes a separate reading with a MAP (the MAP is of course extra) and can add additional fuel as needed once the MAF is clamped.
