Your crazy doode.
1500 for parts, 1000 for the flight over there to buy them, then shipping it back over. Not like a tranny is LIGHT you know?
Last time we checked, the tranny it'self is like 2300, with everything you'd need to do it. Box it up, ship it, pay for s/h and import fees.
Hell no.
Considering that S/H for a bodykit from Korea to the US is like 400 or more.

dude, that's why you FLY over there...you can put the tranny on the plane. that's how i got the 5-speed tranny over here to the u.s.
well, my mom was in korea at the time and the tranny came with her on the plane.
and you are right about the tranny being $2300....my uncle gets discount so its only $1500 for him. that and he was probably quoting me a price where he hooked me up for a few hundred less.
anyhow, it wouldn't cost close to 6 grand.

fgrs?
Well.. install...
You pretty much have to pay ATLEAST 500 just for install. Removing tranny and cracking it open are not cheap.
Plus.. most are for faster acceleration.. which turbo and nitrous guys DO NOT need..
Traction sux as is..
I have the elantra 03 tranny and im loving it.. best tranny to date. (99 tiburon, 99 reconstructed, 01 tiburon, 02 elantra, 03 elantra)
Fawk.. i cant believe my car has whore 5 trannies..
ugh

the housing... im not sure about the gearing, but this tranny does feel like it has longer gears than the 02.
I had to grind off a bit of the housing and the mount so it can sit flush.

You do realize that for every pound of luggage you put on a plane they charge you for... Its not like a transmission is going to fit in a carry-on baggie. LOL...

Yeah that's right... but surprisingly, all they charge you can be less than what a courrier or post can charge you for the same weight.
I don't know why that happens but I guess it's because they establish a rate by the rule of majority, that is, probably 95% of shipments are 20lb or less, so nobody took the time to establish a rate for a very heavy item traveling by plane. On the other hand, when you fly, they are already charging you for the bags you are supossed to carry, even if you do or not.
Now.. getting back on topic, how much weight would a 6-speed tranny put on the front of our cars?
