1.8L Block Buildup
I have a BIG turbo (lots of lag) i'm not all that happy with it, but its top shelf gt30R ballbearing, water cooled, i believe its a .83 A/R, i KNOW its too high but that is the turbo that came in my turbo kit. I'll have about 1psi up to 3k rpm, thats where it starts to build and full boost around 3800-4000 rpm, boost sorta feels like an ON/OFF switch of power... so i'd be better off with a built 1.8l right to help me with the bottom end as much as i can? and i have the money to build a motor right DSRTIBB, so no worries there.

Which GT30 did you get? The GT3071R, GT3037R, GT3076R, GT3040R, is it a T3 Turbine Inlet or T2 Inlet, if you have a T2 then it is a .86a/r if it is a T3 then it is a .82a/r. The turbine housing size is the only thing that is hurting you on that spool, the turbo itself is really responsive. I have a 67mm DBB Stage 5 .63a/r turbo on my car which is way bigger than the 53mm or 57mm (depending on the model you have) that the GT30 is, and I have a really nice transition into boost, but it will hit hard regardless.
If you can find out exactly which one you have I can help you in getting a smaller hsg that will allow for a better spool.
