New clutch
Thanks for the reasurance guys, this is the first time ive ran a car with this kind of clutch in so i wasnt sure exactly what to expect. Now i know as long as i treat it right this chatter should die off quite abit. 2UNIQ if yours was doing it like mad and you still have it running fine 2 years later that makes me even happier. The only other thing ive found since the intall is all my forward gears are a bit sloppier than before. They go into gear fine but when they are in there is a lot mere play in the stick, 2,4 and rev seem fine. wierd.

Ah so the "hub" is actually on the pressure plate and "sprung" is describing that it is suspended on the pressure plate? (to absorb the shock from the pressure plate engaging the clutch engaging the flywheel)? If thats it then i get it. *a light goes off in my head*no about the sprung hub...

I always thought the "hub" was the center part of the clutch and "sprung" would indicate that there are springs (like the 6 arranged in a circle on the 4 puck clutch in the pic above) as i've seen pictures of an "unsprung" clutch kit that had a clutch disc without those springs. I had no idea it was refering to the pressure plate. I guess it was a miss assumed coincidence.
500 Miles breakin minimum!!! Dont dump it and take it easy or you will trash it. Stage 3 and above will try and grab like a SOB and will jitter alot of the time on take off. once it's broke in and sey you wanna race feel free to dump that baby but be ready cuz it's gonna grab and spin the wheels.....

Also the SPRUNG / UNSPRUNG deal you have sprung see the springs in the middle if it was unsprung it would not have them at all. the sprung clutch will absorb some of the shock from engagement. Be glad it is sprung as the unsprung you would nee dto launch from about 2500 rpm just to leav ea light and talk about vibration you would have enough to make milkshakes on the tranny .

Thanks for the info snow man, its already slightly better after about 50miles but it still vibrates like mad. Im just worried about any of the mounts because of the vibration. Is there any i should uprate the guy that fitted pointed out my engine ones seem slack already. I dont want it to vibrate anything to destruction. Ive also go to find out how to remove the slack thats appeared in my gearstick now.

uh, so i was right to begin with? So beppomarx is incorrect??? I'm all confused now. Check the slack in your cables if they got losened up somehow you can adjust them a bit at each end if needed, also as for mounts the stage 3 should not need differnt ones butif you got sloppy ones at least replace them only other thing I woudl reccomend is back out the tranny bolt's one at a time and use some med lock tite on them to keep them in.

the fingers on the pressur eplate are for releasing the plate evenly. the sprung / unsprung reffers to the DISK itself. chatter can be caused by a number of items. grease on the flywheel or clutch disk or on the pressure plate, dirt all kinds of stuff, it can also happen with high performance clutches becuase they want to engage faster and more fully. not much slipping on a clutch with race applications or upgrades.
want to feel some chatter get a stage 5 and see how it holds! No don't do that I'll tell ya what it does. it is ceramic and well it works like this you slip it a bit and it heats up and then the hotter it gets the more grab it gets. so once its heated up it's eithre engaged or not engaged no inbetween no slipping etc on the take off your going as soon as yu let out. smile.gif

Yeh ive got to get it on the ramps hopefully monday its hard to see if there is any slack the gearstick side as the cables clamp to the car so soon after the gearstick. I would have thought that is the problem though as i cant see what else the could have done. Ill see if there is any slack the other side as long as i can find out where the hell it goes to the gearbox side(first time ive looked for this) Are there any poly motor mounts out yet or are people still just making there own with that setting liquid stuff.

What snowman posted is correct. There are no springs on the pressure plate. Pressure plates develop their pressure based off the metal "fingers" that the clutch release bearing snaps into.QUOTE
