i put mt 90 redline synthetic in my 01 manual trans and it runs just as good as the 97 I used it in for 100,000 plus miles, theres a definent shift difference that i still like

i put it in, like immediately when i bought my low mileage 01 recently.. and it feels great! mixed with 25% lucas transmission fix

maybe someone can comment here....i tried using amsoil 75W90 GL4 full synthetic in my accent transmission. seems like it should work, same stuff as the RP and redline right? wrong. it killed my transmission and cost me $1000 to get a scrapyard one put in. buggered 4th gear somehow, after 1000kms it came out black. i used it for over a year beforehand but it just had enough and said go to hell. the new one didn't like it either, 3rd gear would b*tch when you engage it. change to the regular stuff and its fine as can be.

not sure why or what exactly went wrong, still in the process of tearing down the old one.

It is something about the specific properties of different lubes. Our transmissions are a lot pickier than most.

How much did you put it and was any in it when you yanked the trans.

Also, 1k? I hope that is with labor or something. 1k for JUST the trans seems steep..

Also.. RP does not equal redline.. not even close.

Amsoil gear lube and amsoil manual transmission gear lube are not the same thing, and you might have a hard time learning that, even from their distributors!

redline is EXPENSIVE in australia! i'm not sure i'm prepared to pay $110 + shipping per gallon, i think i'll just stick with locally available nulon/mobil alternatives...
