Default how much hp can a 01 tib tranny take

i have a 01 tib 5 speed. my turbo project is near complete. i am trying to find out how much hp the stock tranny can take before it becomes a huge paper weight?
also, can a turbo mitsubishi tranny bolt to this engine? i hear some say yes and some say no. i hear things like the gsx can or the evo-6.
i was thinking of using the earlier elantra tranny like red was talking about but i wanted to check on the mitsubishi thing also.
basically what can i do to beef the tranny up to handle over 300hp? i know i need a new diff but what about the gears?

just a new differential should do it, and stay outta 5th gear

I don't know of anyone ever actually had a tranny die. Only the differential. The stock Diff went out on the dyno rollers at 347whp for Onpol. The tranny held that much abuse.

no eclipse tranny bolt up.


Evo5-8 will with some modifications.

our first four forward gears are strong. it's the 5th gear and diff you have to worry about. get a quaiffe diff ($1000, but indestructable).

Yeah...Shaddoh, I hear you saying that the evo tranny will bolt up with some modifications.

Do you have any more information on this?

what about the gear ratios would they be better suited for a turo'd tib rather then the stock 5?
