Default Flywheel Install $$

Hey i was told by a local shop the "book" requires 5.5 hours of labor for the install which comes up around $330 to install a flywheel. Is that right? How difficult you think it is to do on my own maybe with a friend? I have experience working on cars.. i've done Intake plenum swaps/injectors/lifters/cams and the such. My only problem is i don't have a lift at my house. What do you guys think?

Thats about right...

You should take advantage at change the clutch as well

They have to remove the clutch anyways...

I dont recommend you do it without an engine lift...

When you pull the tranny, you leave the tranny with only 1 support...

you know, i would've done the whole flywheel thing about 10k miles ago when i did replace the clutch witha CM stage 1 and had my tranny rebuilt but as far as everyone knew there wasn't a p/n available for the pre-7/99 tibs or at least i didn't know about it. This sucks. I can obtain a lift from my dad but i've not the previous experience of doing a flywheel swap. Is it pretty straightforward? Heck, i mean webtech has been good to me so far when i replaced my struts and belts....Or should i shell out the $330 and kick myself in the head?

I mean I could do a whole lot with $330.00 like an UR underdrive pulley set, a SAFC, new paint for my front end, 2 car payments, it just goes on!!! Heck i don't mind sacraficing some blood and sweat. Dammit! Anyone have a good tutorial or good advice on how to do it??

Yeah i called my best friend and we're gonna do it next sat morning. He's done it before on his escort (previously my escort that i sold him back in the day..lot of memories in that car *sniff*) So i'll grab all the trq. specs off of webtech and we'll sort the mess out. Wish i had a lift in my front yard though....

Too bad you cant just have Jaws come over and help you out. Too bad, but your not alone. Im gonna pull the engine and tranny out. Then I get to pull that nasty lil canister out. If I can get ahold of the flywheel in time Ill do that too.
Hey Jaws should I got stage 4 while im at it. That **** felt like a beast and I was in the back!
