Definitely appreciate all the info and help. I don't plan on modding it much for awhile, just getting it into good running shape for my little brother. Once he's done using it though I plan on pulling the engine and trans out and doing a complete makeover on it for a turbo build. For now though, I'm just gonna drive it for a bit and see if it acts up again or not, and go from there as to whether I get a clutch combo or not.
