Default clutch/ignition sensor

OK how,if possible, do you disable the sensor or that little button thing that tells you when your clutch is pressed before you start your car.
thanks

It's a button on the firewall that gets pushed down by the clutch pedal. You can either tape it down (ghetto) or jump the wires. Either way it's not really recommended. If I were you, I'd wire it to a toggle switch that you can use when needed.

All you need to do is stick your head under your dash, find the button on the back of the clutch pedal. The button screws right out, thus exposing the wires. Though I have not done this on my Tib, I have taken it apart on several different cars, all of which were the same.

either tape the button down, or splice the two wires. it's that simple. that's all the help we can offer.

allblacktibby, why is it not recommended that people do this mod?

Because it is there for a good safety reason. In my life, in my gargae, I have tried to start my car twice, in gear, without the clutch (by accident). If it wasn't there my car would have ended up in my kitchen. If not me, then some other A Hole who's been in my car. It only takes one careless person one time, and the consequences could be costly. Damage to car, damage to home, popped airbag....etc.
Other than adding a remote start (which will add in other safety features to prevent this) is there really any benefit of bypassing it?

However, there are some fun things you can do with it, like:

Wire your friends hazards to it
Wire your friends high beam switch to it
Wire your friends radio to it
Wire your friends wipers to it
(Yes, we did it to a friend S-10)
Every time the hit the clutch the high beams will come on, or the blinkers, or the radio shuts off, or the wipers come on.....

No, it will think the clutch is always pushed in.

Go to that link, they talk about adding a switch on the power lead for that button. Do that and you can have it on and off when you want.

It is dangerous though. I've had friends get caught between 2 Humvees when the neutral safety switch was faulty or removed. One died.
