Default Beta 5 speed on Alpha Motor?

Has anyone done a conversion to use the beta Tranny on an Alpha motor?

I remember hearing that some folks were going to try it, but I don't know if they did, and if it was ever successful.

Anyone have details?

i didnt see the utility of this swap.
maybe because the alpha is too boosted and the original tranny isnt enough..

I think Beppomarx on Hyundaiperformance.com is in the middle of doing it. Check the accent forum over there.

tranny will bolt right up to the alpha block, you'll need custom axles, the mounts will need some work but the clutch is the problem, the beta clutch is a bit too large for the beta flywheel, and you can't just use the alpha cluth because the beta tranny use a pull type diaphragm, maybee a clutch fro ma different car wil lfit the alpha flywheel and be a compatible puller type, i didn't try to do it so i can't comment more then that

Use a clutch from a 1.6 Beta. I think it has a "push" type diaphragm.
