Default 98 internals into a 03-08 box?

Can i fit a tiburon 1998 manual transmission internals into a 03-08 tiburon manual transmission box and mount it in my 98 tiburon with no problems? is that the 98 box is broken and i found the 03-08 one and i want to know if it fits.

you can but you would be wasting your time, its quite labor intensive

just pick up a new transmission, they can be found for decently cheap

The question seems to be if you can reuse your older, probably more-worn parts in the case of a possibly-good transmission, and install the assembly into your car. Why not just use the newer transmission's internals? You will still have to do minor grinding to get the thing to fit, but you won't have had to disassemble/rebuild a transaxle first.

it's that the new box is empty it has no internals and what i need is a box to fit the transmission in and since i can't find any from the same year i was considering it if it fits. and buying another transmission what i can find is an used 97-99 trans. for $500 or + and take a chance if is worn and with mine i know what i have.

and thnx for the reply

If the newer box is empty, you will be doing us a favor if you try to switch the parts over, regardless of whether it works out (assuming you report back). What's the worst that could happen? You drop the thing and crush your foot and die of gangrene? Well the likely worst-case is more along the lines of a wasted day or two but we all benefit from what you find, especially if you take lots of in-focus, well-exposed photos and post them up hint hint laugh.gif
