Default Catback vs headers.....

Hey all!

Thank you to everyone's help with the CAI! I installed my AEM CAI and have had NO issues with CEL's or anything. Sounds great and feels great!

With that being said.....I am looking to make another upgrade very soon.....and have been told conflicting things so I figured I would ask the Professionals!!!!

Which should be upgraded first....Headers or Catback Exhaust? As for the Catback does nayone have any recommendations on which Manufacturer produces a solid (non-ricey) sounding exhaust? I have been told ARK has a good Prod for the TIburon but a few people have been saying Borla. Any advice???

I have a 2008 Tiburon GT Limited 2.7L V6. I recently installed an AEM CAI and it sounds and feels great. I have been told conflicting info and I am not sure if I should do headers or exhaust next. Anyone have any suggestions? Also as far as headers go what Manufacturer is best and produces the best results? Same question for the Catback Exhaust....>Which Manufacturer......Heard Borla or ARK....Any advice?

i'd go for headers before exhaust (headers give more gains than just an exhaust).

and depending on what you like, you have the choice of getting 4-2-1s or 4-1s.

What i have installed is a 4-2-1 header, stock catback. i'll upgrade to a 2.5 exhaust probably in the 2 next coming paychecks

I would do catback first. It will get you plenty of power until you decide if you even want to do the headers. The later year Tibs have CEL problems with headers. I believe they require expensive cats.

Jon,

THANKS for the info! As far as Catback's are concerned...since you would do that as your next mod....What do you think of Borla Catback's? Do you know of any other Manufacturers that would be better than Borla?

So hold off on the headers until after the exhaust....

I believe Borla makes one of the best, but they're pricey. If that's what you like and can afford, then I'd get that one.

So with the '08 V6 GT I should go with the Catback upgrade first right? Then depending on performance look into the headers?

Jon,

Thanks for the help/advice!!! Any reason why mousepad suggested headers first or is he referring to an older model Tib?

I think I am going to buy the Borla......Just need to find a shop to help install! ;-)

I live in Ocean View DE.....no performance shops here at all. There is a Hyundai Dealer and some muffler shops but I am kind of nervous going to a random muffler shop to have this done. So after purchasing the Catback the next step will be finding a reputable place to install it!

Do you know if installing a Borla catback would cause any CEL issues or anything else?

Thanks again Jon!
