you don't need to post the same question in multiple forums. We'll see the thread.

Mousepad.....I saw your post about the headers and the options you gave. I did post this in 2 different forums so it is possible you replied on the other posting. Anyway....I have a 2008 GT Limited V6 2.7L....JonGTR said that in the later models the Tibs had an issue with throwing a CEL when the headers were changed out. Do you see any importance or any determining factor to upgrade the headers over the Exhaust.

I am thinking of taking JonGTR's advice and upgrading the exhaust to a Catback Borla. I only have an AEM CAI on it right now. What ar eyour thoughts?

My fault...Majik...Sorry about that!

There are 3 cats on the factory headers. Replacing the headers typically removes the front 2 cats which may throw a CEL on later models due to increased sensitivity of the ECU.

A catback exhaust doesn't touch the cats, therefore no cels.

SWEET! So once I install the Borla Catback.....IF I decide to do headers...would I have to make any other adjustments at the same time and what is the likelihood of throwing a CEL on my 2008 V6 if I replace the headers?

Does anyone have any experience with my specific model adn replacing the headers?

I say listen to different catbacks on Youtube and make your decision based mostly on that. That and look at the design to see if it is obviously crappy with 90 degree angles and such.

OK....So I went to the local Meineke shop to ask about installing exhaust systems. They said they could do it no problem however they kept telling me that to buy Borla was a waste of money. They said that it was ONLY sound that I would be purchaisng by buying a Borla exhaust. Said they could custom make an exhaust system that would make the same sound as the Borla. Basically trying to find out if adding a Catback Exhaust will yield any increase in HP? I apologize for asking a stupid question but I was under the impression that with a performance exhaust there was a slight increase in power but now listening to the guy at Meineke I feel like there is no HP gain whatsoever.....

Can anyone clarify this?

ugh..

just buy a system thats known in the GK community as holding up and a good value..

i would never throw money at the borla name just because of the price.. not sure what the systems cost for the GK, but i would assume most of them are pretty free flowing and the same sized pipe..

buy the cheapest one that is stainless and doesn't have any issues throughout the community.

Check YouTube for videos of how different exhaust perform and sound. Ark is also pricey btw just as much as borla. Obx makes a catback that sounds ok on the v6 and is cheap.
