ok, heres the dilly, my exhaust manifold has been cracked for quite awhile, hyundai wouldnt fix it, even though its a recall without me paying for it. screw that, well a local has a 97, and hes not very lets just say, car smart, even though he thinks he is, so i installed a obx header on his car. i figured id re'use his stock steel piece, in place of my cracked cast iron one.

based on the headers on ebay saying that they work for the 97-01, i figured that it would bolt on. well obviousely his manifold didnt have the 1st o2 plug. so i cut out a hole, busted out my lincoln welder, and welded a o2 bung for the 1st o2 sensor. all was going good, i even took a few pics for rdtiburon.

well when i went to test fit the down pipe, what do u know. there quite a bit different, #1 its to short to meet up to my exhaust, #2 the flange on my car is straight, when the flange on the older version is crooked.

i really needed to vent, and just say im so tired of hyundai. if they would just fix the part that they have a recall on, i wouldnt be in this mess.

Definately go to another dealership... while most are asses, there are quite a few good dealers out there that treat you right because they want you to come back when you do have to pay for stuff.

i really dont know where the nest closest dealer would be. probably out near the chicago area. but it would be pretty hard to drive out there because i work a basic 9 to 5 job, and thats usually there hours.

heres a question someone might know.

i just double checked on ebay, and the headers are listed for 97-01, and they say they are bolt on, with no modifications. so why does the 97 manifold not work?

Do you have a right and a left nutsack?

Most people only have 1 sack, with a right and a left nut. in it.

The dealer will fix it, you just have to complain very loudly to the right person.
