Okay, we were talking with Java a bit back about consolidating some of the rarely used forums into a more sleek look.

The site has been here for awhile and is starting to BOOM in popularity in my opinion.

Let's make it better eh?

Rules...

1. No stupid off topic posts. I'll delete em in this thread.

2. Constructive criticizim.

3. Give examples.

4. Don't bash other, less significant forums, too much. wink.gif :twisted:


My ideas...

1. I'm starting a thread in the Site Rules and Announcements, I'm going to make it so only Java, myself and Solo can post there. When we approve uploads we will post there the last time and date approvals were done so you will know if your pics are available.

2. Let's add I/H/E to the Engine/Transmission section.

3. Consolidate ICE forum into Interior forum. ICE is in the Interior.

4. I think we need to do something to the Motorsports section, but I don't know what. Posts are very rare there, especially the Solo/Autocross/Rally section. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?

5. DIY needs moved, to either Performance or Show I guess. OR, maybe we need to make a Help section and have DIY in with it. DIY isn't off topic is what I'm getting at.

6. Car Shows and Group Meets should combine, and possibly move under Off Topic. I don't think we need a divider for one forum.

7. For Sale and Wanted could be combined as someone mentioned, but I think I like it this way.

8. Business advertising needs deleted, no reason they can't advertise in For Sale or we can't make it For Sale/Business Advertising.

9. Let's combine Site Questions& Suggestions with Rules and Announcements. Both are rarely used but important. I also think this should be at the TOP of the forum. Site Rules, Announcements, Suggestions & Questions.

10. I'd like to see the front page drop off news stories after about 2 months, It'd make us keep it fresher and SHORTER.

Things I'd like to see...

1. Some sort of reward system for bringing other folks into the Forum that actually stick around and participate.

2. More skins for the forum.

3. Folks bringing up more posts to foster conversation in the correct forums.

4. More "Self Policing" of the site policies. Some of you are doing really good on that.

5. The polls on the front page, It'd be nice to see folks ask for a new one once in awhile.

6. I'd like to see ya'll put a post up if there is stuff you'd like to see changed. Maybe we'd ALL like it.

7. More use of the Downloads/News/Web Links pages.


Okay guys, get at it.

 

Those are all great ideas REDZ. Perfect timing too. The site is growing and some sections are not getting used at all. I know when spring time comes a "help" section might come in handy for some of us who have a whole pile of parts waiting to be installed.

I would like to see more use of the "SEARCH" button.

Perhaps someone can make it huge. It seems like more and more posts are along the same lines of posts a few week old. i.e. bodykits for our cars.

I think that the constructive criticizm has been really good so far.

I think the site is awesome, and still the best Hyundai Forum. and there is always room for new ideas.

1. combine "local events" and "motorsports" into 1 section. no need to separate the 2

2. 'forced induction' and 'NOS' can be combined into 1 forum. same thing, 'eh?

3. 'newbie bin' and 'testing room' are the same, pretty much. generally the Noobs are the ones who need to test things out tongue.gif

perhaps we could call a new section "Higher Horsepower" (turbo+nitrous) section

 

Canadianshark, I don't agree with a Help forum because all the forums are for help. Just post in the correct forum.

I wish we could make the SEARCH button bigger too.

Or in all caps.

I agree with #1, good idea.

#2 I don't agree with unless we do it the way Canadianshark said, that's a GREAT idea. They are NOT the same thing.

#3 I'd say no to because Testing Room is to learn how to post pics or to test quoting and such, or, to get that huge writeup going so you can edit to your hearts content and just paste into the right section. The NEWBIE BIN is a great idea and is for the simple things most new folks ask about, so they don't get flamed.

EDIT:<u> Wait a sec, I've got a GREAT idea! Can we get it setup so when someone goes to post a NEW TOPIC that it takes them to a page on the way that says "Did you search to see if this topic already exists" with a search button on it?

That would rule. Then you click yes or no and post the new topic or forward you to the search.</u>

 

yeah, i think the diy section can be discarded, after all we do have a diy section on the left side margin on the front page.

and redz, idea #2 is on ha, not here...lol

 

i agree w/ tibby01 about the DIY forum, can't all that just be moved to articles??

i'm not really sure what should be done about the newb forum, but i think that maybe it should be renamed to something, ...... more inviting, to new-comers to the site. I think the name itself may keep some people from using it. Just my opinion.

Suggestion for FI and NOS forum : Power Adders

Other than whats already been suggested, maybe rearrange the front page, I think the polls should be at the top where the TCE ad is, i really like how kspecs front page is set up w/ the sponsers and advertising on the right.

and i don't remeber where i saw it said but someone suggested removing the section where you can see whos on the site, IMO bad idea, i like knowing who else is on the site and its also good because you can almost chat w/ people about stuff.

ie. how tibby01 and i worked out the led switches last night, knowing that he was logged in helped me gauge how long to wait for a response.

 

Actually, I'd take the DIY off of the front page completely and put the DIY forum in the Performance section. Or one of the top sections.

I think a DIY section is important so we can easily find them.

 

We can remove it from the front page and put it in the forums. That would be the best way, then everyone can submit DIY's.

 

It does have it's own forum allready ya old bastard.
