Dude, we barely even got this one off the ground. Id say you're kind of sticking your foot in your mouth DTN. Seriously. I think the quality of this years calendar is great, and I have 4 years of calendars in my possession to compare as well. IMO, this is a dick post man, you need to check yourself. Why even bring it up? Folks are happy with even getting a calendar this year. Way to stroke your own ego. coolthumb.gif

Welcome back DTN. yesno.gif hijacked.gif Flush.gif locked.gif

Everyone knows you're the best and smartest. Feel free to NOT resume your old habit of off-topic posts that got your warning level so high before your time away from the site.

tibbytib, that's his style. It's also why his warn level is so high. If he continues the way he was in previous years, he won't be around from time to time with temporary bans after his warning level reaches ban trip-points.

We asked for people to get involved, for months, and nobody would. If members want to complain, they can share in taking the responsibility by not stepping up to help.

I applaud optimoprime for his effort and work. This year was not an attempt at creating a 'cheap' or inexpensive calendar, it was an attempt at getting ANYTHING done. We had somebody who finally stepped up and dedicated time to get this done. Don't bash it.

For you to post and say you could have done better, well, f* off. This is not a personal attack on you, but rather a defense of our members. You could have contributed your time and resources to getting a better calendar made, but you didn't. Therefore, I don't feel you or any other member has any reason to complain or toot their own horn, because nobody else stepped up to take responsibility.

Temporarily unlocked. Since I called out DTN, I'll give him an opportunity to respond before re-locking it.

I tried the year before last and RED ZMAN said he wanted SOCKS to do it. That's when I gave up. I said screw it. After I had already made 6 f***in' months of calendar... they took SOCKS's cookie cuttered calendar with no personality, just the same outline with different pictures stuck in the slots. It was decided in the last couple of months of the calendar that we would completely disregard the graphic design, data collection, and many many hours of work which I had performed over the period of 10 months preparing for the calendar and instead let socks come up with a 10 minute graphic design. Then we got to listen to him complain that he didn't have time to cut-n-paste the images into the calendar for 2 more months. Maybe I'm just still bitter/miffed/castrated because of that.

I'm saying that there's a level of dedicaton required. It's not just a matter of slapping an image on a photoshop template and adding a font. There's alot more to it. Level adjustments, touching up the image, adding filters without making it look like it came from no-limit record company... It takes alot of work to produce a good calendar.

Good results are not achieved by cut-n-paste, add a font, find cheapest printer.

I'm still debating weather or not GIMP image editor has the power to create great graphics or not as I'm still new to it and photoshop is not on linux. However, after working on soulhamsters.com I have gained confidence with it and may be able to see the calendar from start to finish this year.

My work brings me a busy season (60+ hr/wk) from mid-October up until Christmas, then mid-Jan through the end of February. I don't have any time to dedicate myself, and it was difficult just to get the calendars mailed out within a week of receiving them. Otherwise, I would volunteer to do the whole thing from start to finish.

I would like for someone to be committed to creating the calendar - taking the time to get it done and making a good quality calendar, including you. If you're willing to do it, feel free to volunteer.

However, for those who don't volunteer while we're begging for it, there's no room for complaining.
