top speed @ 6750rpm is about 140-145. SO figure maybe 145-150 for the extra 250 rpm.
assuming the "claimed" 170-180 HP is real, i doubt it would make it to much higher than 150 anyway.

According to Webtech and the gearing ratios. He should hit 160mph at 7k with 15" tires.
So should I with my 02 Elantra tranny and 17's.
But he'll run out of power around 150-5mph.

I'll have to go back and consult my gearing ratio charts I made up, but I thought the "best" top speed any Tiburon/Elantra would hit is somewhere between 140 and 145 (I think it was 144 @ 6750 rpm.

Here's the stock info...
Transmission Ratios:
1st: 3.462 2nd: 1.950 3rd: 1.393 4th: 1.031 5th: 0.825 Rear Gear Ratio 1: 3.650:1
1st gear 6500 RPM 37 mph
2nd gear 6500 RPM 61 mph
3rd gear 6500 RPM 86 mph
4th gear 6500 RPM 116 mph
5th gear 6500 RPM 145 mph
Here's using KSpec's 4.12 Final drive
Rear Gear Ratio 1: 4.12:1
1st gear 6500 RPM 31 mph
2nd gear 6500 RPM 54 mph
3rd gear 6500 RPM 76 mph
4th gear 6500 RPM 102 mph
5th gear 6500 RPM 128 mph
Here's using Kspec's 4.294 final drive
Rear Gear Ratio 1: 4.294:1
1st gear 6500 RPM 29 mph
2nd gear 6500 RPM 52 mph
3rd gear 6500 RPM 73 mph
4th gear 6500 RPM 98 mph
5th gear 6500 RPM 123 mph
I can't comment on mileage, as that is rather complicated, but you can do a "percentage" guess.
using the stock gearing.
3.650 Final drive would be about 3200 RPM at 70mph
4.120 Final drive would be about 3600 RPM at 70mph
4.292 Final drive would be about 4200 RPM at 70mph
So you're looking at.....
a 12% RPM difference for the 4.12 final..so a 12-15% decrease in fuel mileage
a 24% RPM difference for the 4.292 final, so a 24-28% decrease in fuel mileage.
For those who are interested...here's the info for the 2003 Tiburon tranny (geared for larger tires)
Transmission Ratios: 1st: 3.462 2nd: 2.053 3rd: 1.393 4th: 1.061 5th: 0.837
Rear Gear Ratio 1: 4.056:1
1st gear 6500 RPM 34 mph
2nd gear 6500 RPM 57 mph
3rd gear 6500 RPM 84 mph
4th gear 6500 RPM 110 mph
5th gear 6500 RPM 139 mph
Roughly 3300 RPM for 70mph in 5th gear.

Yup, I was able to nag an RD after all cool.gif
As for engine mods, it's got lightweight wheels (obviously), the 1.8 cams, bored tb, bored valves, a "shaved" flywheel, and an ECU donated by hyundai that has more aggressive tune (a prototype from Korea not used in production) with no rev limiter. Oh and no muffler and a hollowed out cat. All in all, not too modified, but with a race weight of only 2525 lbs and being able to take it up to 7K RPMs each gear, it should be pretty quick. fing02.gif
As for plans, I'm not sure how far I'm going to mod it. I think I'll just keep it N/A for auto-x and then turbo the spare engine. Seeing as how it's so light, I think I'll be happy with maybe 250ish whp for the turbo engine. As for appearance, I'm not sure if I wanna keep it white or get it painted black. I love the RD1 in black so probably get that done once the funds are available. There will be no rice on this baby. 439.gif
BTW, the dent on the quarter panel, I noticed that too. I'm gonna call him tonight and ask him. He's coming to drop the car off a little after lunchtime tomorrow laugh.gif

Hey congrats on the car. One thing I would like to see is how we (as in the Hyundai Scene) can get our hands on an ECU like that.
Seriously, we need Agarwal to get in on this and see if he can copy that b****. Because that would be a huge addition to the N/A mods.
Again congrats on the purchase man, glad to see it went to a member here.
