IMO everyone who bid before the 24th is a moron. The seller should have made that a frikken month long auction, then they would have got $20k!
Still, I think the final price is a really good one. Consider that you'll get a 100k car from a buy here/pay here type dealer for about that if not more, and somebody got a DEAL if it's as-described.

Stocker, the auction ended 6/24 at 8:04AM PDT, how are you supposed to win if you don't bid before then?
I was going to start bidding, but I hate eBay.. A lot of those bidders were upping the bid by hundreds, even over $1000.. Instead of bidding small, so price went up quickly last three days. And how the winning bid ($5,225) was placed before the two before him ($5,125 and $4,755) I don't understand. It's like you put in a max and it doesn't bid until it reaches that max? But then you max is already a lost bid..
I dunno.. I hate eBay

That's exactly how bidding works on eBay. If I see that car and decide I'm willing to pay $6,000 for it I can bid $6,000 right up front. As the auction goes on others will bid but I will always be the highest bidder because the system will outbid anyone else instantly until they bid over the $6,000 that I bid. If someone exceeds your maximum the system will notify you so you can increase your bid if you wish. If nobody else bids over $3,000 then I would win with the next minimum bid over $3,000, probably $3,100. I would not have to pay $6,000 unless it gets bid up to that amount.
It's funny how people are saying that others are stupid for placing a bid early on. To me it's the other way around. The one's who are trying to do the "sniping" are the stupid ones. You can't always assume that you will be able to jump in at the last second and win the auction. Often there will be a higher bid previously placed which will beat yours and you may not even have enough time to re-bid before the auction ends.

Ah! I see.. So it's really just a matter of whoever selects the highest initial bid takes the cake. Unless you are notified of a bid higher than your max in time to up your bid..
I just wish I had seen the auction sooner. I called the guy with less than 24hrs left on the bidding and offered him cash, same day and I'll pick up.. No shipping hassles of eBay bidders not paying, etc.. He said if I'd of contacted him sooner, maybe when the auction started, he would've taken the deal but it was too close to the end. He didn't care what he sold it for, he got it dirt cheap. I was gonna give him $3500 cash and take her home! =( ..

If you bid a week before the end of a week long auction, everyone has a week to up the bid. If you wait till the last day, check it every hour or so and see what happens. If you really want something, place a high limit on your bid.
I don't like dealing with eBay either . . . and I sell junk on eBay for my job! laugh.gif

see,i am the exact opposite. i have won several things sniping in the last minute cheaper than by placing a bid ten or twenty dollars cheaper thanwhat i could get for it at regular price. when i have placed a bid early, i always lose to some tool that doesnt know the brand new price of something and ends up paying 30 to 50 bucks more than they would have at a store that carries said item.
anyone see who won the car? a person with 1 feedback. sometimes that is the actual seller buying it from themselves. back when you could see the winners name on ebay i looked at several things that i lost onand kept track of those names for a month. come to find out it was the same person winning their bids cause they didnt get what they wanted out of it. they had low feedback so they couldn't set a reserve price at that time, pretty shady IMO.

Yea I seen it and reported it to ebay most of the time you can contact ebay and suspect them of bidding on their own items, all they do is check the ip address and whether the person with 1 feedback on bids on his items then they both get banned....

LOL look in the photo of the sunroof, looking up from inside the car. They took the photo inside a garage. It shows the garage's roof. laugh.gif LOL
At what price did they offer the sale? Be advised it *may* be a violation of eBay TOS for them to do an outside-ebay offer but some people care about that a lot more than others.
If the price is right and the thing is as straight as they say, and nothing smells fishy at all, get it and enjoy your "new" car. If you suspect anything like worse damage from the wreck than was stated, odometer fraud (check the floormats and seat) or whatever, you can always just walk away. You know cars, and you know these cars, and the worst thing that could happen is <strike>they murder you for the cash you brought to pay for the car</strike> you don't get the car.
