1800:1 isn't a great contrast ratio, but it's a big and cheap LCD. I know some of you were looking, so I thought I'd post.

honestly, thats just as good, because it was "looked over" by the manufacturer and carry the same warranty as if it were brand new. cell phone companies do it constantly now

Actually, that's a VERY good contrast ratio.

I have been doing some researching, and guess what?

There is NO industry standard for Contrast Ratios.

None.

I was reading some descriptions on Circuit City and some of them were talking about this. One of the Samsung brands has a 20,000:1 contrast ratio, which is about equal to a Panasonic at 15,000:1, which is about equal to a Sony 7000:1 ratio.

I'm going to look at this one, and check some reviews, but I just may pick it up tonight, thanks Majik!

in that case, it may very well be comparable to tire manufacturers UTQG ratings. Although Traction and Temperature are "regulated," the Treadwear number are not, and are solely comparable by tire company to tire company. for example: a Michelin 600 treadwear rating and a Goodyear 600 treadwear rating cannot be compared, because they can make their own settings....
