<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (majikTib)</div><div class='quotemain'>I would be interested, but would like to know an estimated price before saying YES. Compare it to the BREMBO kit that the store at hyundaiperformance.com offers. I've really been considering this lately and I'm willing to go with it. I'm sure you could get 10 people involved if you have competitive prices, but if it's more than the BREMBO kit, you may not get many interested. I do like the black calipers instead of the normal red that I see. I would also make a safe guess that people who are wanting a Big Brake Kit will already have 16" 17" or 18" wheels, wouldn't they?</div>

maybe a kit for the rear then? 02.gif

yo yo yo, i am changing my rotors this weekend, i would be happy to send you my old one. as for calopers, well i kinda need those for now.

as for rim size, dont 2g's come stock with 16's. i could have sworn mine were. maybe i should shut up on that and go look at my tire size real quick.

but i can send my old rotors for now.

now for the question he asked on captive rotors. are'nt they the ones with the 4 indentions on them? i have no idea what they do but i know that they fit something kinda like a puzzle peice right? people have to shave the little tits off the hub before they can change to a different, non-captive rotor? makes it like a locking mechanism right?

maybe i am way off but this is what i understrood from other post on HA.
please help, i am dying over here lol.gif

Random at HA.com may have some calipers he can send. I know we can find some setups for cheap used.

Captive rotors have bolts holding them to the hub or something wierd. There are pictures on HA.com, I'd look for it right now but I gotta run.

So the captive rotor is simply a bolt on to the hub? Never heard this term, but if it's only the small bolt to hold it in place then its not a big deal. Such bolts only hold them in place for wheel removal.

Don't bother sending old rotors....they alone are not what I'd need.

The pics above look nice. Not sure of the rotors in use but I'd be doing two piece and I'd prefer a different caliper. Actually two different ones; the FSL and BSL6n over the DL for its mass and pad size.

Cost? I don't see it being any different than the current offerings; based at about $1000 with add ons and subs taking it upwards of $1300. Ten people interested? I'd say not a chance. Prove me wrong, but I simply doubt you'll find ten buyers with a grand or more to spend on this any too fast.

What years are we talking about to pull some parts out of the junkyard are we looking for exactly on this model?

Well, to get a complete idea, you'd want a 97 with Captive Rotors and a 2001.

Ok, so if I'm following this here and on the other forum, the 'update' to your early car is to use the later hubs on it and then do the later brakes. In our case you'd do the hub and bearing but of course use the supplied brakes? What is the cost of the hub and bearing assby? Meaning does it severely limit the opportunity to do the brakes?

The best option to do would be offer a kit for the non-captive rotors, and older vehicles with captive rotors will have to upgrade their hub assy before they can use it. The run of 2nd gens way outnumbered the 1st gens anyways, not to mention the fact that making parts for what you'd have to replace on the 1st gen would be EXPENSIVE...

Yes, that was what I was asking. The common cure for this is to update the early car to use the later parts.

Ok so now all we need is a 2G car to work on....anyone?

Where in Arizona?

I'll be moving back to Albuquerque or Colorado in a month or so. I could stop by for a day or so.
