Default Splitter with the Kore/Studie bumper.

Ah, here is the section you referred to! Missed this one the first time round.

The first (and as of yet only) Tiburon Street Sport Kit was fit to a car today. Size 12.2 x .81 rotors, BSL6n calipers, Wilwood Performance rotors and E pads.

The kit is based on a two piece hat and rotor design, Wilwood Superlite line of calipers and includes all the necessary brackets, hardware and hoses etc. to do the entire fit.

The process took a bit longer than I had anticipated due to a couple of glitches. First being the hose ends used on the lines were IF rather than the cars Bubble flare. Corrected on this car by hand made parts, the final hose package will of course have the correct ends.

Next we came upon some rubbing of the inner dust plate against the inside edge of the rotor. I had suspected it would need to be removed but considered its remaining in place to see for sure. It 'may' be bent to clear but in the end I opted for removal. Part of the reason to keep it was to retain the ABS wire anchor to which it is bolted. This was somewhat easily adjusted by removing the plate and trimming it to retain only the portion of the plate needed to secure the wire anchor. The option on this is to either remove completely and zip tie the wire or do as I did here.

Total estimated install time is about 3-4 hours for the final package and depends of course on ones ability with tools....

The bedding of pads, feel of the pedal, and overall packaging was as I'd hoped given the time we spent on trial fit some weeks ago. All in all a very straight forward install.

Pricing will be posted on the web page soon as I need to get the Tiburon page made up first. For the most part it will be priced the same as the kits for the Eclipse. Base pricing to start at $979 and go north from there. The package today inclued the upscale BSL6n caliper as well as the more attractive Performance rotors. Total price: $1279. Shipping extra.

There are some other options, some more some less expensive and I can do up about anything a customer would wish to have. Budget allowing. The next plan, perhaps next Saturday (his schedule not mine) is to review the options for the rear. I see this being the basic 11.75 solid rotor upgrade to retain the stock parking brake and thus being priced at about $450. The key benefit to this kit vs some of the others on the market is that it is flexible in design. The modular design allows for later changes to wider rotors, different calipers, a massive selection of pads, and larger diameter rotors if desired.

Hmm...

Doesn't sound too bad.

For the calipers, how many pistons? What size? I'm just wondering if we'll have to upgrade the master cylinder also.

Just about everything you want to know is on the website.

No, there is no need for a MC change.

As for my option...

I chose the 6 piston calipers...

Here's what it looks like on the car....

Enjoy... laugh.gif

I will say this...

Through all the work Todd did on this kit....I'm glad he did all he did....The kit is fully upgradable at any time...

Also lightened the car up about 16lbs...( which isn't much, but 12lbs of that was rotational mass...IE: The rotors )...

As for performance...it's great...I had a friend in the car with me who also has a Tib & he was watching me ...usually the pedal is steady & takes some downforce to stop the car...with this kit...you don't need too much force at all...it's awesome...

Thanks again to Todd for all his work into this kit...

Wilwoods are VERY nice. This is definatly a step up from using XG brakes on the tib and now these are MUCH higher on the list of mods I want to do

Oh god, wait a sec.

Todd, are these for the 1st or 2nd gen Tiburon? The RD? 1996 thru 2001?

If these are just for the 2003 and up, I don't think they will fit us. Please find out.

BTW, will this kit fit inside 16's?

Guys,

Please forgive me for not knowing all the lingo on Tiburons or the proper model changes. You'll have to help educate me a bit too.

The kit in service is for the 'NEW TIBURON' or 2003+ model (I think that's the right year change to the new model) and not for the older 1G model. I've not considered the older car yet as it would require larger wheels and I think most of these came with 15s correct? If someone is interested in the early model we'd need to start from scrath on it. I'm guessing the new calipers don't bolt to an older car.

As for 16s, I'm reasonably confident that you could run the narrower rotor .18 package in 12.2 diameter inside a 16. It really depends on the wheel shape more than diameter. If someone can send me a pic or hook me up with one I'd glady help out. I was to understand that the new car came with only 17s. Help me out, what am I missing?

Practically all of us are interested in them for the first and second generations. How long would it take to get them in production?

Thats what this site is about Todd, exclusively for the 1st and 2nd Generation tiburons (Again, 1996-1999 is first Gen, and 2000-2001 is 2nd Gen, refered to as the RD Tiburons. 2003 and up is the 3rd Gen or New Tiburon, and would not apply to us.).

Thanks for the info, but let us know when you offer something for the "REAL" Tiburons.
