having your revs higher than idle before 5spd launch. How is it different from not meshing the gas pedal all the way down as you release the clutch quickly? what I don't understand is if at idle rpm's i have enough torque to spin my tires, how is getting higher on rpm band makes the situation better?

Generally you launch better if you have some controlled wheelspin. You want to control the amount and keep your tires from frying. If you are getting excessive wheelspin you need better tires or if it's wheel hop better suspension.

Your tires can provide up to say 1G of acceleration. Well, you want to keep them at that peak as much as possible. By keeping the revs high and slipping out the clutch, you can always be using up all of the grip available to you.
Dropping the clutch with lower rpm means that you might not be fully utilising the tires because the engine doesn't make enough power.
