stock seats weigh 36lbs each. replacing the driver seat with an aluminum one from summit racing and removing the passanger seat will net about 60lbs for about $150. Rear seats are also very heavy.. replacing the battery with a lightweight race battery will also net around 30lbs for about $150... Some of the best lb/$ weight mod's I've found soo far....

The magazines have done this over the years, but the one I remember most is a Cadillac that they got down to running 10s! with stock drivetrain. Huge pig of a 60s car with a monster motor. The lesson was...decreasing weight is exactly the same as increasing power.
I guess the limit is whatever you are willing to do without. Interior, glass, etc... Some of that stuff just needs to be there for daily use, and the manufacturers have lightened the cars as much as they can already. I think the battery and seats idea is about the best you are going to get.
