Well, I went to the drag strip yesterday night to see what kind of gains the cams got me in the quarter, but the weather was so terrible for good times I couldn't REALLY find out.

My best time was a 15.01 at 91.6 with a 2.76 60'. The fastest MPH I got was 92.66.

The humidity was like freaking 90+ % and temp was 75 so the conditions for good times were not exactly optimal. The only reason I went is because my friends told me there were only like 15 cars there, which there were. I could have ran 20+ times in 2 hours if I wanted, but I tried to let the intake manifold and such cool down between runs.

Before the hi-cams I went 15.25 at like 90.4 on a damn good day.

Everyone I know was running about 3 to 4 tenths slower than normal last night so I would definatly hope to be into the mid-high 14's with a good night and better launches (2.1 60').

I know my MPH is good for 14's but I just can't get good 60' times. Is it the crappy dunlop fm sport 901's? They are only 195's. I was running about 17 psi up front and 35 out back and burning out before each run, but still couldn't do better than 2.26 60'. I think I just need practice launching as I don't do it much because it is hard on the car. I would love to get 16x7's with like a 215/225/45/40 tire, that would probably help a lot. Or are there any suggestions in tires for the stock rims in a 205/50/15 size?

Anyway, I REALLY want to break into the 14's sooo bad but just need to wait for a good day.

And oh yeah, I have a stock clutch.

Please feel free to post up comments.

Eh... humidity and temperature aren't going to effect your 60' times that bad LOL. Those conditions really aren't bad.

Think I could get my bicycle to get a 2.8 60 foot. tongue.gif

Bring it down to a 2.2 60 foot and your looking at low 14s (14.2-14.3ish).

Just saw where you did burnouts.... thats stupid on street tires. The function best @ room temperature. Heating them up makes traction worse. 17PSI is also a lil low...

DAMN

on the stock hankooks i got a 2.4....lol

mang you dont need to burn out before you run.... your just wastin tires go around teh water box and try it i bet youll get the same times

also launch like you normally would from a stop light see if that helps at all...

Well, on my first run, I left tire pressure at around 34 psi, went around the water box, and got a 2.6 60', I am talking spinning like a mother in 1st, so apparantly burning out does help, at least for me. Although next time I run I will try running with lower pressure and without burning out.

I lowered the tire pressure to 25, then 20, then 19, then 17, and each time I did the car hooked better.

I don't really know though, as I said I'm not really great at launching, and I am afraid to try to feather the stock clutch too much. Every time I ran I either spun or bogged down to around 3k.

Are those 60' times good or bad?

Thanks.

Your 60 foot times are horrible. To be frank, near the worst I've ever seen.

Burning does not help, at least for you. All street compound betters get worse traction when heated up. Lowering them down to 17psi isn't very good idea either, your not running slicks lol.

25 PSI, no burnout, no clutch drops. Release the clutch like you would from a stoplight, giving more gas if your bogging, less if your spinning. Each car/tire has a different maximum point that it can be pushed off the launch. Clutch drops do more damage to the clutch than feathering it out.

I'm on 195 width BF Goodrich G Force Sport tires and I pull 2.2 60 foots.

Sorry, but my dumbass posted 2.76 60' and 15.01 lmao.gif .

It is really 2.26 60' and 15.10. LOL. WTF, can't believe I did that.

So my 60' really arent that bad.

What kills me is that I have so many modifications, and I am still running freaking 15's!! I mean, you have half the mods as me and are damn near just as fast right?

I'm not that bad of a driver, I shift very quick and right at redline (without hitting it, lol) so wtf?

Oooooh ok LOL. lmao.gif I thought your trap speeds were a little low for 2.76 60 foots in low 15s. But then I thought, hell he ran a 2.76 60 foot, anything is possible. lmao.gif

Meh, you still have stock redline so you might have more power higher up that you can't get to at the moment with those cams.

Other than that, run a compression check. I dunno. I ran 15.5 with I/E.

1. Change plugs.

2. Do a compression check.

3. Get a dyno with AFR.

Yeah, I am definately going to change my plugs. I need to find some nology silver plugs to run with the hotwires because those plugs are non-resistor type and they supposedly run better with the capacitor type wires I have. I might just put in my old v-powers that I cleaned at school earlier this year to see if that helps.

I did a compression check at school a few months ago and it was fine. I would think that now since my cams have so much overlap that the compression check would be inaccurate.

BTW I don't burn ANY oil at all. My catch can which is in-between my pcv valve and the IM doesn't even have 3 drops of oil in it after 6k so I wouldnt think anything is wrong with the rings.

I am going to check out my plugs and wires, maybe that is what the misfire code is coming from.

Thanks guys.
