Tiburon Vs 2g Turbo Eclipse
What did your car run Zoned? Do you have the 1.8 enigne or 2.0? if 2.0, do you have the 1.8 cam and ecu?
I have
CAI
Header
2.5" full exhaust
1.8 cam
1.8 ecu
ARK sts
I'm interested to hear what you run in the 1/4. That DSM should have rocked that strip though... My friend Corey has a turbo eclipse with about 450hp, that thing is FAST! And it sounds wicked too. Doesn't even sound like a 4 banger anymore. Especially if he had a FMIC and a 'stage 2' turbo, then he should have destroyed you. Differences in turbo and n/a are immense. I mean, even look at some of the highly modded n/a tibs, vs low mod turbo tibs. Almost a second difference, you know?
Good job though mang! Represent the tibs!

Ud know if it was the gsx because he woulda raped u outa the hole. I would also guess he has a automatic. id agree he prolly is a 2f2f guy, because honestly, if uve stuck 2 grand into a setup ud think ud wanna tell little bit more about it than just "its a stage 2 setup." it may not even be a 16g, it could be a 14b. they even make an obx header similar to ours for the 1g and 2g motors for the t3/t4 turbo im runnin off my tib. plus he didnt mention what clutch he was runnin. he probably did tune it with an safc though, that seems to be the most common way of doing so w a dsm (all the dsms we work on get ti that way unless ortherwise requested). I liek your N/A setup a lot...the cai, exhaust, throttle body and airram especially are a bad-ass combination. with all that, your car is breathing as much as it needs to. and yea, taking out back-seat and spare tire make a lotta difference. our cars are waay lighter than a dsm, and the more you take out, the more you are capitalizeing on that advantage.
if that guy a 16g, fmic, 660cc injectors and a dsm link runni low 13's thats decent.
a fully built gsx 2g w 30 over pistons, 272, 264 lift cams 16g, dsmlink is running 12.85 with 464 hp..through our shop that is.
socks is right, it wouldnt matter if it was a gs-t (fwd) or gs-x(awd) what motor it has. the drivetrain would be different.
im kinda bummed, i ran a gst manualy tranny way back when an the kid didnt kno how to drive. so i killed him outa the whole, but right at thd end of the run he pulled on me by a car..only cuza his turbo (this was b4 i had mine).
once i get my 1g tsi's clutch and cv shaft done, ill put a driver in that an run my turbo tib against it. that'l give us a lotta info cuz that car is all stock.

i have no idea if it was gsx or not. i didn't talk to him that long. and the $2k thing was just an estimate on my part.
about the red tib comment, yes, i do have a red tib now. i REALLY need to update my sig (i've been saying that since last year when i got the car though..) someday im going to update it and people that didn't know about my red tib are going to be like WTF?!?! ha. the blue tib was sold to my cousin though, so i still get to see it around once in awhile! and the funny lookin guy is me, asshole tongue.gif
and my car was running the 1.8 ecu also.
i'm guessing this guy was automatic. even though he should have rocked me, it made me feel good that we were so close tongue.gif

I ran a 12.8 in the 1/4 with a 14b in my 1992 talon. I was MAYBE making 300hp. I had a keydiver chip, safc, logger, 880cc injector, walbro 255lph fuel pump, msd fpr, ebay fmic, stock bov, stock cams, stock motor altogether. The turbo wastegate hole was welded shut.
16g turbos have made 500hp+ and made it into the 9's on a few cars. Thats not common, though. Rare actually and only in sub 1800lb stripped 1st gen dsms.
The lesson here is that guy was probably driving an automatic gs-t with the stock t25 at stock boost or just didnt know what he was doing in general. I know because I have a 99 tib with the same setup and an auto 95 gs-t. I have raced both at the track with the stock 95 gs-t only being marginally faster.
Anyways, good "almost" kill. Tibs are light and fun as hell to drive.

Props on the run and taking the time to put in the track time. It's been years since I did any type of track racing. I remember clocking in a 12.9 on my 1990 GSX back in the day. That was with an Alamo SMIC, Small 16G, 2 1/2 Buschur DP mated to 3" Thermal catback. Anyway, good job representing with the Tibby. Maybe someday someone can explain to me what the deal is with the 1.8 cam and ecu?
