Thanks guys,

Cylinder wall pressure? I will probably take it to 7500 at least once just to see what happens, hopefully there isn't a big BANG, lol. I figure I will shift at no higher than 72-7300rpm on a rare occasion as long as valve float isn't an issue.

The richness is my issue as well, hopefully since I am getting my 1.8L ecu rev limiter increased, the curve will remain a bit leaner on its own (so I won't have to subtract as much fuel with the SAFC II).

I will for sure give her a spin on the dyno ASAP once I get the ECU back, sounds like he is going to do it as soon as he gets it and ship it right back, so next week I should have it. I figure the curve wont fall off until at least 7200, and it will also be a benefit to be in that 150+ horsepower range after each shift at the track you know?

What is the common issue with over-revving if there is one? I'm not going to window the block going to 7500 am I? LOL. I guess I'll see. cool.gif

Thanks for all the info and support everyone.

i rev my beta1 to 7200 very often
only issue i had so far was jacked up lifters when going past 7800rpm
do you have stock valve springs or stiffer ones?

ooo, take a video!

tdonnel, first get your credit card balance to zero. Then get some stickies for up front the next time you visit the track, they will convince you to go get the quaife.

^^^Haha! Would be nice to have a quaife, but $1300 is a ton of money. Maybe next year after the debt is paid off. I am installing a virtually new (less than 1000 miles) stock clutch in place of my ebay 6 puck stage 3 (that wore out in 20k) to save some money when I install my beta 2 trans today. I hope it holds!

I have stock valve springs still guys. Am I to understand that it would be okay to rev to almost 8000 rpm if I was to buy the ferrea dual springs? I figure with the stockers I shouldn't go above 7200 (according to airborne). Some opinions/advice would be nice here guys.

I would love to throw a set of slicks on it and break into the 13's NA. And I will do that before I go turbo, just give me some time, hehe.

Thanks for all the continued support and info everybody, I'm off to swap the trans in the beast!

I would agree with airborne.

I talked with i8acobra in person for a while and his car was set to rev to 7250 I believe, with stock springs.

That is what I am going to shift at; at the HIGHEST of course. I probably will only take it to 7000 most of the time. But am I to understand the bottom end will hold up to a normal abuse of 7800-8000? That is if I get the stiffer valve springs.

Hello guys,

New dyno numbers with the rev-limiter increased on the 1.8L ecu. I have also installed an 05 elantra transmission with much longer gears so the first pull was in third, second in fourth.

Gained a couple of horses, lost a few torque (likely because the damn a/f is at 14:1!!! I even added 10 more % over the board and it didn't do anything until I got above the stock rev-limiter?? It worked on the 2.0 ecu.

Anyway, here is the graph:

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k29/tdon...06/Dyno2006.jpg

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k29/tdon...06/Dyno2007.jpg

Here is the previous dyno with my 2.0 ecu and the 1.8L trans:

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k29/tdon...06/Dyno2004.jpg

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k29/tdon...06/Dyno2005.jpg

The gears are MUCH longer in the elantra trans than they were in the 1.8, for example; before my rev-limiter raising my 1.8 topped out at 76 mph in third, the elantra trans went to 93mph in third.

Now with the increased rev-limiter I can go 105mph in third and 135 in fourth!!! LOL. That is at 7700 rpm though.

Anyway, I must say I am not too satisfied with the results here. I guess I probably gained about 3 hp because the gears are so much longer.

I am going to try setting my cam timing back to zero and see how it feels up high. Right now it is at 9 advanced intake and 3 advanced exhaust so there should be a pretty noticable difference between the two settings, noticeable by the butt dyno, lol.

Please post up your opinions. Would increasing the fuel pressure help me get my a/f back into the 12's before 6k?

Thanks everyone.
