My first lapping day
I have been wanting to get out on a road course for a long time, and today I got that wish. I spent two hours of track time split up into 15 minute sessions from 9am to 4pm today at Pacific Grand Prix in Kent, WA.
Here is a picture of their 0.82 mile track:
It was a lapping day, so no times were kept so I have no way to compare my times to anyone else's. I did however do quite well by my own assessment. I went on course and was passing the most people of anyone in most of my run groups. There were faster people, I had to pull off course to let a very fast S2000 get by at one point. Other than that though, I did all the catching up and passing. I got a lot of positive feedback, a lot of people loved the little red Hyundai that could lol. I am definitely going to do it again. Maybe even run in the race series there next season.
Here is a video of two laps with the GoPro on the outside of the car. Really shows how hard I have to work to get the car around corners.

Here is a video of me catching and passing an RX-8, then a 350z.

thats actually some solid understeer man. i know you have springs and shocks, do you have any aftermarket swaybars installed? how did you find your tyres after a few laps?
but yeah solid videos man. they came out quite nicely.

It wasn't understeering too badly, it doesn't translate to video very well. I was able to control whether I had understeer or oversteer via the throttle. Even did some throttle lift drifting later just for the fun of it. I do need some more front negative camber for sure though. I didn't expect to get as much body roll as I was seeing so I need to dial in at least another degree. Maybe more once I have the additional grip that will provide.
I'm on Ksports and have a rear Whiteline adjustable swaybar.
I was on the track for right around 2 hours of total time. Considering that the tires held up well. They would get hot if I was overdriving the car, but if I backed off just a little bit they would get their temps back under control and i would have my grip back.

Great video. Despite the Mazda, and to a certain extent, the Nissan really taking off on the straghts, you made minced meant of them in the corners! Not sure the 350Z even knew what an apex was, whereas you nailed nearly every one of them. Great job!
