heres another photo really showing how perfect and balanced this car really was, you can see how wide the body is too. i loved the paint job they don't make them like that anymore:

It seems like a fiberglass hatch would be a relatively simple thing to make. Just take off your current hatch, grease it up, make a plaster mold, locate and note down all the support brace locations and have at it. The most expensive part of the whole deal, to me, seems to be swapping the glass out from the old hatch into the new one or getting new glass.
