Friday night I went out to the local drag strip to have a go at it. I did pretty good, I won 2 out of 3 races.

The thing that gets me is no matter what I do to my car I still get about the same 1/4 times. Around the high 16's. My fastest was a 15.8 about 2 years ago. Probably don't know how to drive, lol. I try different ways to launch and shift and stuff like that. Maybe I could get pointers and see what I am doing wrong. I don't drag very much, like a couple times a year, so its really not that big of deal. I could feel my car is faster with each mod though.

Here are the races I raced and the cars (the time slips are too light so I couldn't scan them on)

The first race I took off without reving the engine. The second I reved up to about 2k. The third I reved it up to about 3k. All I did was take out my subs, didn't try to do do a whole lot of weight reduction. I figure with the mods I have I should be able to get into the low 16's at least. The track is about 600-650' elevation.

I have more pics to post up, Which I will have to get later. Also some vids, but I don't know how to post them up. There was this honda race car out there pulling mid to lows 10's. And this top fuel car that broke a record doing 6.66 in the 1/4 about 247 MPH.

ok when you go to the track take off those heavy wheels they WILL make a difference
instead of those put the stockers on and get some sticky thread for them

oh and that last honda has a intercooler in front of it...

good job though man you just gotta work on lowering your 60 foot and your reaction times

Do not ever dump your clutch, it's proven that unless you have slicks you will not get good traction.

No these are not good times for his mods, I'd actually say these are horrible times for the mods he has. Trap speeds are very bad as well. With the same mods as you I trapped at 91mph.

How hot was it?

First of all you need to learn how to launch your car properly. Rev it up to 2200rpms and feather the clutch with partial throttle until you get moving then floor it and release the clutch.

Your car should be at least seeing mid 15s with close to 90mph traps.

You need to do a lot of practicing with your launches!

Not bad man. I keep telling everyone about those auto Mustangs and how ridiculously slow they are. tongue.gif

Definitely take off your wheels next time you hit up the track.. you've probably got somewhere around 300-400 pounds of extra static weight holding you back.

You could definitely hit low-mid 15's IMHO. Glad to hear you slammed that Honda and that Mustang both by merely a second. Congrats.

I wish I could use the stock rims, but I sold those long ago. I might even try to invest in a lightweight set.

The day was pretty hot, I would say in the hight 90's, so I bet that has something to do with it.

That is what I need to work on is the launch. I don't rev it to high, 3k is the most. I also don't really dump it, I do feather it out so as I don't spin my tires. But I will keep practicing at it.

Oh mah gawd, I've never seen a 3 second sixty foot before. lmao.gif Damn that first Honda sucked.

Notice the guy who beats you 60' time. Thats what you need to run. The race is won or lost in the first 60' 90% of the time. Notice the people you beat, you somehow managed to beat them with your launch.

Go out and work on them launches. You can dump it or feather it, similar times with each. Its all on which you feel more comfortable with.

Temp and high humidity have a lot to do with your times, so don't feel too bad.

If you could get 2.2 for your 60' it would shave off half a second of your whole race. Now add some nice weather and you will see 15s in no time!

Get a short shifter!

You will have to improve on your launching. Try what the others have said and feather the clutch a little.
