Meet the number one qualifier of the day...

The car ran a 10.70 right off the trailer. Hyundai is officially in the 10s. Check out IDRC at Importdrag.com to see more about the day. The link is here: http://www.importdrag.com/2006results.html

He didn't win in his class, but he would have if he didn't jump the gun on his last run. The 300zx he raced pulled an 11+ second pass. Not only was I stoked about it, running the first race since I sponsored a full CF hatch for it, but we were able to speak with VIS and give them the proposal that landed another full ride sponsorship for this beautiful hood. So are you guys stoked? We're in the 10's for the first time in the 10 years the Tiburon has been around, and this time it was a full fledged race even, and the tiburon didn't have two engines (SCC Mclintyre 1st gen).

Nobody has been able to pull it off, but with a built auto and a 4 cylinder motor APE broke the record again!

It does kind of look like one, doesn't it? Maybe it's a semi-auto, one of the new transmissions that's automatic with a manual override.

You know what Jon? I'm getting tired of your ridiculous expectations. I mean honestly, can't you just relax a little bit and stop being so high and mighty? Honestly, the fact that you actually expect me to READ the post is a little beyond belief.

LOL im going to assume and hope your kidding...

Anyways for joo newbs there has been a couple threads recently about the APE tiburon and how the guy who built it didnt know whether the standard transmission would hold up to the power, so he just built an automatic tranny.

Now dont go planning a manual to auto swap, he didnt just throw a stock auto tranny in, its fully built meant for racing, which is definaltly not an attribute of the stock tranny.

But back on topic, nice time, good to see a tib with one engine in the 10's

why not get the owner, TOM to get on this form and give us some info and experiences he has gone threw with this car like his EGT levels as he a probe in each exhaust port, total timing the engine likes, best AFR he has noticed that works well, what parts he has broke, ETC.

In a lot of cases.. an Auto tranny works better in drag racing. Especially with a Turbocharged car. When properly built for racing, an automatic trans allows the engine to be kept at wide open throttle the entire time, thus never dumping boost.

take it easy, our autos have a lot of potential and i'm sure they did a good job on it. although my personal preference is 5-speed, the auto isn't as bad as it sounds. it responds well to power too and i'd say it's highpoint is straight and low point is curves and hills. APE Tiburon is built for straight, so who cares about the transmission as long as it switches quickly and on time.

very good update man. i actually like the hood next to the bodystyle. although i think there are nicer hoods out there, this one just matches the lines. i'd like to see a nice custom paintjob on that car so it could be more photogenic. this makes out for some good publicity and advertisement for you. you need a big flyryde logo on the hood though.

very nice new rear hatch. i didn't see that in the last pics so it must be new. great work, and excellent rep.
