He's put on a few good years and looks less like a clown. Makeup him right and tell him to act serious when required, it'd be alright.
Unless you just don't like Afleck, which a lot of people have a knee-jerk hatred reaction when they hear his name.

Thing is, we've seen Ben try dark and brooding and he sucks at it. What this tells me is that they're trying to get away from the Dark Knight and go back to comic book Clooney. Yuck.
