i just wanna know what made people say, "i'm gonna buy this hyundai." it is kinda tough to buy their cars without thinking of the pony and excel.

for me, the day i got it, i was actually looking into getting a Lancer. The 2 that they had on the lot (one of which was an OZ Rally) were both autotragics so i said hell no. then the guy tries offering me a cavalier. yea...like THAT'LL happen. he showed me the tib, loved the fact that the interior was leather, took it for a spin and loved it. the fact that it was a stick was a big plus for the buy.

how bout ya'll??

Default why'd you get a tib?

I remeber seeing the original commercial (The Jaws one.. i wanna find that mpg).. and fell in love with it.. then my cousin bought one.. and got really .. umm.. horny over it.. Well, he sold it and bought a 2001 Xterra.

Driving on day after work (12:30am), decided to take a road i never took.. drove by a dealership.. and noticed a familiar smile.. 'what are the odds' i said to myself.. then saw the SE spoiler. I locked up all 4 wheels in my 88 Aerostar(good for camping, that about it).. checked the tib out.. 5spd!.. sold!.. went home, discussed how i needed a new car.. blah blah.. next dayput a deposit on the car to hold it. 2 days later drove her to work.

Does anyone know, where to get the original commerical???

I actually had been shopping around for a couple of months for a new car before i went off to college. I went to every car lot for 50 miles i think. Finally i was just doing a random stroll through a car lot in my hometown when i saw a 2001 Silver Tiburon. I looked it over and asked if i could take it for a test drive, of course it was ok. The car was an automatic... but i still liked the power and the looks of the car. It was something that i actually had never really seen on the road before. I really liked it but they were asking way too much for it... so i talked to a friend of mine (who is a used car salesman) and asked him to start looking around... a couple of months later he came to me with pictures of a car from Chicago... it was exactly what i asked for. A 2000 Black hyundai tiburon with a 5-speed. I fell in love.... we made the seven hour drive to Chicago and bought her... It has been the best investment i have ever made... i love the car!

It had to be the "Jaws" commercial, many moons ago. After I saw that commercial, I knew I had to get a Tib. It took me untill 2001 to get one though. I still love the lines on the RD.

i had been driving an elantra and fantasizing about a tiburon. i even looked them up on ebay to see how cheap i could get one and buy it myself. well, we bought this piece of sh*t grandam (which we put a good $2000 into in 3months) and we had to get a new car. my dad was like "do you like it?" and i said "uh...yeah!" and he said "it's now or never." i told him only if we could afford it. next thing i knew, we were at the hyundai dealer picking the last one on the lot out (it was jan 2002, so they were getting rid of em. to make room for the new ones)

yeah, i know...my dad bought my car. i know i'm lucky, spoiled, daddy's little girl, whatever....but dont give me crap. wink1.gif i appreciate it more than he'll ever know

I have had a number of interesting cars over the years.. the first being an hidiously overpowered Vdub superbeetle, then a 1958 Austin Healy (frogeyed) Sprite, a 74 Porsche 914, a 72 911, and a plethora of fiat spiders... but I needed a reliable car, so I bought a boring, but well running 1988 Hyundai Excel GS.. one of the first in all black.. it was slow on the streets, but made an excellant rally car. It lived with me for 167,000 miles and 11 years until it finally started smoking far too much to be driven without worry... so I took it to the dealership and walked out with my Tib.

I always liked the looks of the tib.. it was totally unlike anything on the road... and it still does.

For me it was becuase my step dad had to give up the lease on the gmc i was driving and I had to get something ASAP, and the tib was the only car in my price range that i could afford AND the ONLY one i liked. The dealerships in my area didn't have any except the one that i went to, and they only had a blue auto w/ everything or MY red manual w/ basically nothing.

went from my sister's 97 4dr auto cavy...to my dad's 92 cutlass sumpreme sport to occationally his 97 Astrovan (no my mom doesn't drive) ...wellmy sister was taking her car to college so i couldn't use that to get around...my dad drove the cutlass to work..and didn't want me driving around the van...and my mom can't drive (wheel chair bound) ...and i had to get around to work + soccer practice and various other things. I wanted a Civic Hatch, or a Jetta (mid 90's boxy style), and i had to have a 5 spd, autos were way too boring for me...well first my dad was looking at getting another cavaier...so we were a half a step away from buying a 2001 2dr cavalier 5spd (yes i like the way cavy's look, and it was a lto quicker than my sisters POS). Well obviously didnt' get that..found my car just looking through the classifieds...had what i wanted figured i'd check it out (5spd, 2 dr hatch, and auto windows), i've never been a huge fan of the way tiburons look (especially 2nd) but the first gen's body lines grew on me from the moment i saw it..and it was nice had low miles...and here i am.

and yes my dad bought it...and yes i am very lucky, and yes i greatly appreciate it...i have tried asking my dad if i could buy it from him..but he declines every time...

Went for a ride in my freinds 2001. That was all it took. A few months later I got mine. (1999 Canary Red)
