The radio news say witnesses saw the celica racing another rollerskate, a black something-or-other (I forget what they said it was). They put the speed at 75-90MPH. Google Maps search "5100 South First Street, Austin, TX" and you'll see a couple of miles of straightaway with a mild s-curve where the wreck happened.
