The world is not gonna end. I think its all bs and people need to get a grip. Even mayan elders all say the end of the calendar doesnt mean the earths destruction. People are so naive and paranoid.

I think 2012 is all hype and just something that hollywood is making tons of money over.

^ Exactly. So many people thought the same thing when Y2K was happening. Any little thing that can spark the tiniest thought in peoples mind about the world ending, creates wide spread panic. Its dumb. I think 12/21/12 will just be another day and when it passes....everyone who panicked and thought it was dooms day, will feel stupid.

I'm sure even skeptics though will probably have a tiny bit of wonder on that day, but not enough to let it keep them frozen in fear.

only thing to just be mindful of is solar storms. With all of our dependence on satellites its bound to happen. Solar storms make class 5 hurricanes look like a mid summer nights breeze.

If that happens I'm sure it wont be in 2012. Could be sooner, but later more than likely.

I think the reason that it holds a lot of weight with people is that the Mayans were astronomically more advanced than we were up until very recently and we honestly don't know how it was possible. Since we don't know how it's possible for them to have such advanced knowledge we don't know what other advanced knowledge that they may have had which may be beyond our own in some areas. It is not possible to fully discount that something bad is going to happen in 2012. What that might be? No idea. Will it be the end of the world? Probably not.

I'm not freaked out about December 21, 2012, but I will say that I will be nervous that day. I don't think anything catastrophic is going to happen, but honestly I think it could be the beginning of a drastic but gradual climatic change. The tilt of the earth has been favoring one side of the planet for the last 11,000 years, for the next 11,000 years it will be favoring the other side. What does that mean? Nobody knows but either way it'll be gradual if there are changes because of that.

to answer your inquiry it's because everyone is an idiot. To set yourself apart from them, buy stocks in costco and walmart/sam's club

worked in Y2K, don't see why it'll be any different this time around.
