Back in the ol' college days, I stayed up for 3 days straight. It turned out to be something crazy like 34 hours. By the end of that time period, I couldn't function one bit. Couldn't talk, walk, or think, let alone tell you what my own name was.
Edit:
Woops! That's what happens when you type real fast and then copy and paste between the forums without actually looking at what you typed! It was 64 hours. (pressed the 3 on the keypad instead of 6)

I'm in the Army. When we go to NTC (National Training Center, Fort Irwin Cali) or on a really long field exercise, it's not rare for me to get...
4 hours of sleep in 5 days?
Ouch. Add machineguns, high explosives, heavy vehicles...
OUCH...

Holy Hell! I've heard of people in the military having to stay up for days without sleep, but that's crazy! Another reason why I'm glad I never joined! *lol* I need mah sleep! I'm in the Army. Nah, you don't NEED it, the pills they give you in the MENTAL hospital just make you sleep that much.

2 times a month I have "CQ" or "Charge of Quarters" duty. Means I have to babysit the barracks for 24 hours. Only problem is you have to come in for PT (Physical Training) 0600 which means I have to get up at home at 0500. Now, the 24 hours of duty doesn't start untill 0900 and goes till 0900 the next day.
Total?
28 hours of duty, straight thru, 2 days a month. One weekend day and one week day.
You get the next day off of course, 24 hours they say...
But you have to be in for PT. 0500 again... 20 Hours off...
