Whatdoes everyone do for a living?
I am an aircraft mechanic. worked on landing gear and cabins for 3 years, worked on avionics/IFE systems for about 7 years, worked on general systems for 2 years (jet engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, flight controls, etc) also over the past 3 years I've done a few major sheetmetal repairs/alterations.
-on side jobs i worked at a honda/hyundai dealership for a year. and for 2 years i did metal fabrication contracts for banks (built ATM's, safes, canopies, signs, etc.)
in other words you designed stuff and I made it work. then I cursed you when i have to remove it 10 years later.
heres a few pics from work
me holding up a jt8 jet engine

my oldest daughter in pilots seat of an MD-88, aprox 2010.

my youngest daughter in the co-pilots seat of the same MD-88

In the background you can make out a couple planes parked on the pad and one on the taxiway

heres a c150 I painted back in 2002 or 2003

wow i love your job! getting my pilots license is one of those down the road dreams i want to do when i get a few other things in order in my life. like maybe have a couple kids:p
i'm a nuclear operator at a rather large (and old) CANDU plant. for those wondering, ops department runs the units to make power and should sh*t hit the fan its up to us to keep the public safe.
before that i was a mechanical designer for 4 years (you can start cursing me racecar13
and most of that was nuclear refurbishment equipment design. i helped design the big platform in the picture and the long machine in the background. and yeah thats the reactor core they're standing in front of. don't worry its not running in that pic he's ok

unfortunately pics from the internet are all i can post....goddamn 9/11 and confidentiality crap.
also designed electric heaters for about a year. wasn't so exciting, but wasn't a bad job at the same time. most of it was for transit applications like buses, subways and streetcars. bunch of them i designed went to Hyundai Rotem and ended up in new buses in Korea. figured you guys might like that
oh and Rotem are complete fucktards to work with. words cannot describe.

If you like that part of my job I saved the best for last. I work 3 days a week, 13.3 hrs each day. Ive only had the chance to do it once but if i can get on a big job they will pay me Overtime to work all my off days for 12 hrs each. that 1 time I did it I got a $6,000 paycheck (that was for 2 weeks). please dont take that as boasting im just publicly thanking God for the chance to get this job.
the downside is its an extremely volatile industry to work in.
Nuclear Power thats pretty cool, from what I understand the steam turbines are very similar to jet engines.
Manage the computer department for a wine and spirits distributor in Hawaii. Basically I watch the blinky lights all day, lights blinking means everything is good, not blinking and we have a problem. 9-5 job, on call on weekends and after hours, pretty boring unless something goes wrong. But easy work.

Please tell me you have some videos! I'm a pianst (for our church, not a performer) and would love to see you play.
Yeah I know, I'm very biased (prejudiced?) but being on a car enthusiast forum, I expected most of us to have grease monkey/technician type jobs. As a bunch of the above posts show - aircraft tech, nuke tech, computer tech, etc etc, but then a classical pianist - awesome!
