Realistic, meaning not something like "set landmines around the border, officially make minutemen part of the border patrol, and shoot to kill all invaders"

I do not think there is any real effective solution at this time, it's like it's too late, damage done and irreversible. Every bill that is presented to help fight illegal immigration is faced with an endless barrage of attacks from pro supporters, and is either stalled, or shot down.

If there was a time for any reform to happen, it would have been in the late 70's or early 80's, as this was when our country saw the biggest increase of influx of illegal enterings, and attention begin gathering around the issue. But, most people were too involved with grabbing their own piece of the pie, to make any real push for reform, that or they were too busy sitting around smoking dope and having gay sex with each other.

Do you think something like a high tech "National Citizenship" card would work? Much like a state issued ID or drivers license, but one that would prove your status as a citizen? Obviously you would be required to carry it on you at all times, and if caught without it, would be fined, or detained until the "N.ational C.itizenship. A.uthority could confirm your status. This is still pretty far out there..

Just curious as to some of the other ideas floating around out there...

I'll keep my solution on this silent since I'm on the extreme radical side. Northerners and politicians don't give a crap about this issue because it doesn't affect them as much. I personally lost my truck, which was the best vehicle I've ever owned. Not to mention $8k in parts which were not covered. 2 shitty looking Mexicans were seen getting in. The truck still hasn't been found which means its across the border. They use the trucks to carry/jump drugs across the river. Truck thefts down here are rediculous!

Then there's the "invasion" where US citizens are being killed..... war anyone?

Ugh..... thanks for bringing this up. Now I need a drink.

A wall would be a good first step. A big damn wall. At least then you could focus on increasing security at border crossings.

I am one of those minutemen (full time) you speak of.. and we have a BUNCH!!! that would sign up in a heart beat for that. I also have a combat engineering background from my regular army days. We could mine it, but anti personnel mines are meant to hurt more than kill... so I am against using them. However, arming the border I am for

Wall/fence

Slam employers who willingly employ illegals

Check documents at border vs. waving everyone right through. Enforce visa regulations as if Mexico were another country.

Done.

Political will to do the above: 0%, cowards. I wish the US Americans of mexican descent would speak up. Most of them I know are just as against ILLEGAL immigration as I am.

I'm Puerto Rican (Hispanic AND US born citizen) all have to say that i think that what Arizona is trying to do is BS and i feel violated by them. how would you feel if you get asked for your "papers" just because someone thinks you are an illegal immigrant just because they think you are so.... i get profiled everywhere i go just because how i look and people automatically assume i don't speak or understand o worse yet the assumption just because i am and look Hispanic i am illegal or generalizing that I'm Mexican.

and YES I'm against illegal immigrants. the biggest problem is government corruption here and in Mexico. as long as the drug cartels have control, its not going to get any better.

1. A wall to prevent them from hopping back and forth all the damn time. Keep the drugs here and the guns there (or vice-versa). If you're gonna stay here, stay here. If you wanna run drugs in Mexico, do it. Just make a decision!

2. Let them come here. Let them be legal citizens or green card holders so they contribute to the system, pay taxes and be able to get insurance through employers so they can pay their damn hospital bills when a 28 year old pops out her 15th baby.

They're going to be here whether we want them or not, so make them legal so the white haired a**holes in Washington DC can waste their money as well as mine.

Next topic: What would be a realistic solution to stop government wasteful spending? Because I'm sure they've wasted billions of dollars merely discussing this thread's topic alone.

I'm so tired of everyone b*tchin' about illegal immigration! I heard a Taco Bell ad that said that like 1 out of 3 tacos sold in America comes from Taco Bell. America, we need more Mexicans.
