Top 5 Medal Count
US - 121
China - 70
Great Britain - 67
Russia - 56
Germany - 42
The US always seems to kill every other country no matter which Olympics we're in. Is it due to us having a better quality of life and can train our athletes in a more modern way or is it that we have better coaches and education when it comes to sports?

GB and Germany don't have those problems. Maybe it's not the forced factories, but the forced Socialist economies with lagging healthcare system.
The US also had the most athletes out of any other country there. I think they had almost 600 people, so there's a greater chance of them winning more medals than other countries for that reason alone. But, the US does have access to better training facilities, education, healthcare and a way of life that can mold and develop athletes easier or better than other areas of the world.

Don't forget sponsors! The athletes are not born rich. They are able to train in these facilities and get a nearly free ride due to sponsorship. It may not be as easy to acquire one in other countries.
