everything you just named minus the mr2 turbo is actually slower then a contour SVT.
but as i said, i dont want your basic typical car, and everything you just named falls directly into the area. i want a car that is different and you dont see every day. a 240 is as basic as a civic. and i need reliability over anything, and all those you named are older, and not the best for winter being rwd
as ive said, i really want something different. no civics, 240s, neons, anything that i wont see every block i drive.
right now im looking for 2nd gen probe gt's, and RD2's. mainly cause both can be purchased for half of what my check was, and then i can just tos the extra cash in the bank to sit on in case of emergency. id prefer to not spend the entire check on a new car. but for the right car, i definitly would.

I recomend you get another RD2. You just swap out all the parts you already have and like you said, put the rest of the money in the bank. You will have a tuned up RD2 and money in the bank.
Otherwise if you get another car you will want to improve at least a little bit of the other car and will have to start over again and end up with less money in the bank.

monoxide, i can see your point but a ford reliable? (jk) I don't see many 1st gen celicas, supras or rx-7 around here (alton) so I wouldn't consider them run of the mill. I got it; get an older subaru. They are quick and very uniqe or if you really want an oddity try volvo or saab. I'm sure you are going to get something real cool and good luck with whatever you find! Just make sure it looks as good as your tiburon did when you are done-happy hunting my friend

i have 3 local friends alone with rx7's, plus reliability is worse then a pinto.... if you get 70K out of a rotary, your doing better then most. 1st gen celica is an awesome idea, but wouldnt be reliable, or great in the winter. i was actually looking at some saab's though. volvos are ugly, and the ones that look nice, are quite a bit out of my price range.
as of now, im still looking at 2nd gen probes, contour svt's, and more tibby's. actually making a 2 hour drive after work today to test drive a contour svt. this will be my 1st time driving one, so after tonight, ill know if i have any intrest in them at all.

ok I never liked the svt contour but the other day i saw/heard one and omg it sounded great (all svts do i think) and it was super fast. not sure on mods but the turbo was LOUD and it sounded awesome. I support the idea and they are pretty rare. Good luck!
