Gonna have to agree with alli here.

Been to Cali & Florida, the two biggest "oasis" type continental states.

To me, Florida > Cali, for a lot of reasons, CARB being the biggest if your a car tuner, and cost of living is an arse raping over in California, anybody from California will tell you, it sucks.

Thing about the U.S. is that its hard to experience what the country is like in one trip, hell citizens have a hard time seeing it all, so if your going to have to choose one or a couple places in the US, its really just personal preference, your going to want to see different things than the next guy.

What you should tell us is what states you want to visit and the locals can tell you the "must see" sites there.

Also, Bullfrog that site is awesome! 3.17 right near my work which is the best in FL (compared to 3.50-3.75 where my brother lives in CA)

I've lived in California way to long. I guess I'm getting old. But take it from me Calif. sucks. It's not what they make it out to be in T.V. land. In San Francisco youv'e got the, well never mind. In L.A. you have to woory about being shot if your out after dark. By some lunatic gang member. Not to mention it's just plain trashy and dirty. The street's are litter with trash and graffiti. And bums sleeping in boxes on darn near every corner.
Now Las Vegas that's the place to go. That city never sleeps. Always something to do and something new to see. A very nice and clean city. Full of excitment.

Yeah, Cali sucks balls other than to visit for a week or 2.

Go to Phoenix, Flagstaff, Denver, Colorado Springs, or Albuquerque. Some of the nicest places I've ever been.

Phoenix can get hotter than shit, but other than that, nice.

HAVE TO GO TO WASHINGTON D.C! There is so many awesome stuff to see like the museums, the zoo, and US monuments. And go to Las Vegas and New York maybe. Must go to Florida and go to the good parts of California lol. I would defiantly rent a coverable here, nothing better than traveling with the top down

If you come here only for a few months in the summer, I'd definitely pick somewhere with Mass Transit.
Los Angeles would be my first choice (not IN the city but just outside) or Chicago.

I loved Chicago, and you DON'T need a car to get around. There are plenty of things to do and see, and several different cultures.

Los Angeles - full of crazy Mexicans, Asians, and a few white folk.

New York - full of crazy New Yorkers

Chicago - Italians and whitey

Florida - nice beaches, relaxed lifestyle, lots of Cubans in some parts, but limited Mass Transit from what I'm aware of. Might be good to look into Miami Florida where you might be able to survive without getting a car

Gas - In Nashville it's anywhere between $2.97-3.17 per Gallon. The Tiburons hold 14-15 gallons and I average $40 to fill up with 12.5 - 13 gallons. Our cars average 23-30 miles per Gallon depending on where you live and how you drive. (don't come to Nashville, too many white country people here, but it is very cheap to live, eat, and enjoy yourself).

I'd look into Chicago illinois, Miami Florida, Los Angeles California, or New York (never been there myself).

Do you want a city with different cultures? Do you want beaches or a big city?

The wages depend on the job and your abilities, and where you live. a bartender might be a hard job to find in a big city, unless you're really good.

I'd go with Vegas. East coast is all the same and Florida has nothing that great to see. The big cities and such mentioned above are cool and have places to sight see but its relatively similar to your big cities in Europe when it comes to landmark's, museums and sight seeing. I recommend Vegas because it is one of the most unique cities and offers so much. I have never heard of anyone going to Vegas and having a mediocre time. Your only coming in for three weeks, trust me that is very short. I did amsterdam through belgium and france to england back to spain and out through france to germany to fly out after three and a half weeks. I barely had enough time to breathe I was on the go so much and after it all I realized three weeks in Spain would have been a better idea.
Also this way if you end up staying two months or so your out west and can drive and see some of the really cool stuff out there.

Thanks guys for giving a thought about this.
Capn: I'm looking to spend 2 -2.5 months overseas. To give myself a a bit longer to enjoy it.

@Majik: Do you mean with mass transit, the public transport?
I'm looking for a more beach enviroment, I live at the coast here aswell, I just love the beach.
I don't think you can go the a city somehwere with no more then one culture. I live in a very multicultirol city.
As long as there is no direct threat to me i'm ok with it wink1.gif

I'm pretty tired now, i'll look more closely tom. what everybody suggested. Thanks again!

You'd love florida man, the beaches are amazing and the sites are breath taking. Tampa is a really beautiful city but Miami is nice to visit too.

Some people are spoiled with the beauty that surrounds them and dont appreciate how awe inspiring everything is down here, I grew up in Central NY, which was beautiful in its own right but things were expensive and you could run out of stuff to do in a week.

Here you could see everything from beautiful cities and buildings, to gorgeous (free) beaches and amazing bridges, alligator alley, wild life parks, everglades, women (shhh), and not break the bank doing it, gas is cheap, cost of living is lower, and your still in close proximity to many other attractions the southern US has to offer, less than a days drive from the Nation's capital, New Orleans, short cruise to the bahamas, and hell even mexico if you wanted.

I noticed that the people who live down here dont appreciate it as much as they should, but thats the story where ever you go, people like to complain, grass is always greener kind of mentality.

(And as far as the old people, contary to popular belief Florida is 4th in median age, and they keep em all in retirement communities so except for the snowbirds during the winter, its not even an issue.)
