Hey guys,

On the moment i'm graduating from my studies. Still need to know the details (not sure yet)
When I'm finished I just turned 22.

I'm not feeling actually working yet. I can work for the upcoming 50 years orso and the workfield is not really atracting me anymore.
Business Major and IT Minor. So in short, getting better efficiency through IT solutions.

I want to enjoy my freedome for now. I don't have real obligations (wife, kids, house) and stuff.

There is another study I'm kinda interested in. Marketing related.
It will only last 2 years.
If I will start in September, I will be done when I'm 24.

For some crazy reason I really wanna go to the US one day.

I wanna stay for around 2 months. Work somewhere (a bar maybe?) and travel a bit around.
Thinking of going to the West Coast area... but open for suggestions.

I've got 2 ideas what I kinda wanna do.

1) - Start the new studies and wait till summer holidays 2009 and go.
2) - My graduation company just confirmed me they want to keep me. And I can leave whenever I want for such a trip.
So I was thinking, I'll keep on working after I'm done with my thesis. Earn and save money and stuff.
Somewhere in spring/summer 2009 I will plan a trip to the states for 2-3 months. And start the new studies after summer 2009.
I will be 25 when I'm done and ready to really work...

The thing from option 2 what's holding me back is going back to school. Now I'm still in this school mode (you know what I mean), so it could be hard after that year to start again.

So what would you guys do?
Where in the US should I go to?
What kind of jobs can I do (for a couple of weeks) What wages can I expect (I know depending on the job, but for a 22 year old?)
Anyone looking for a temp. roomy? fing02.gif

thx!!
Nick

if you like diamond chains and rap, you'll fit right in fing02.gif

my vote is you don't get sucked in here, go get a job and meet a girl there. make money and save it. by saving it you will be taking advantage of your freedom of not spending.

If I were you, I'd visit Las Vegas, New York, or Los Angelas. Los Angelas and Las Vegas are pretty close together. All three are large cities with a lot of different things to see.

In Las Vegas you basically spend what you want to spend on entertainment. You can go broke easily. You can do free stuff all day, every day or you can spend alot of money doing expensive stuff. Las Vegas is an amazing city of lights and entertainment. There's plenty of casinos looking for temp work.

Los Angelas is your standard huge city. It's spread out more then most. They have a beach nearby, a large airport which would make travel expenses less, tons of tourist and local attractions

New York is a great place to see as well. You could get lost in a city of tall buildings. There's alot to see as far as the docks, the world trade center rebuilding, and the city in general is impressive.

In any of those cities you could find work to do. It would not be hard if you're motivated. I'd see all three if you have the resources. You can get a job as a dish washer, cook, waiter, telemarketer, technical support, or any other unskilled labor easily in those cities. It's really up to your qualifications because every field imaginable is available in those cities.

I donno if you want to take in consideration that Dollar vs the Euro and the price of gas ESP on the west coast. Its all in what you want to see. You can get a job doing little things like DTN said but what you want to do for fun really will help with us suggesting cities.

The good thing is we have members just about all over the US so we can give you a pretty good all around feedback.

@HKC:
I do like rap though haha wink1.gif

@DTN:
I prefer LA, Las Vegas over NY. Although it would be pretty cool, the west just gets my attention a bit more.
Since I'm looking to spend there a few weeks, I don't think I will need to look for high qualifying jobs.

@Bullfrug:
I know the dollar is very weak compared to the euro. That's why I need to save beforehand quite some money wink1.gif
How high are the gas prices? We pay 1.55 euro for just 1 liter here...
From time to time I might rent a car (if possible, don't know the regulations) to cruize around.

My goal for this trip is just to have fun, see some of the country and maybe able to meet some of you guys

http://www.pennsylvaniagasprices.com...as_prices.aspx

It has a color coded map that can you look at to see roughly how much gas is in an area.Zoom out to see the country and then zoom in on the area of interest. If you zoom even closer it will show you prices of gas stations in the area.

And to give you an example of gas prices right now where I live, it cost 3.23 usd a gallon. You said you pay 1.55 euro for a liter, there are 4 liters in a gallon and 1 euro = about 1.56 usd. So for about your 2 euros, you would get a gallon of gas here vs 2 liters of gas there.
