I was wondering how I should go about getting a sponsorship. I know, I know... It may seem a little whimpy to ask so forwardly, but I'm mostly just wondering. Granted, to get a sponsorship for my tiburon would be AWESOME!!! Mostly since I'm short on cash with super high dreams.

Heck, just to get a good body kit and the paint sceme I'd like to have: $4000 (at least)

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

First thing you should do is learn how to spell sponsorship.

Local shops give them sometimes depends on what you want theyre all diff kinds. Im guessing youd be going the show route instead of race. Go to shows with theyre pics(banners usually) on your car basically.

Yeah, I get sponsorship requests all the time for Kspec.com , and most of the folks sending them in send really bad pictures of a really dirty or badly painted interior or engine bay, and they ask for free partz and shizzle.

No way.

Talk to me like you would talk to someone you are making a $1,000,000 proposal to. Kiss my ass a bit, then we'll talk.

And I'm sorry, but if you can't spell, your application is going directly into the circular file.

I had a sponsorship offered and the company wanted me to put a 16 inch decal on each rocker panel with their company name. The thing I didn't like about it was they expect you to go to specific amounts of shows and specific shows of their choosing. So even though it may be a quick easy way to get free parts or money, sometimes it just isn't worth it. I didn't like the fact that I could get a call on any weekend at any given time and have to drive three hours up to Buffalo or something for a show. So before you get too excited about signing into a sponsorship, be sure to read EVERYTHING or you could get stuck in some deep doody.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Redzman >>> I'll type you up a proposal asap. What are my chances? Seriously... Even if my proposal doesn't suit your needs; let me know if it needs any improvments and what not. I'd really appreciate the help.

jToleB >>> I've already thought about what you said. I'd be willing to do what I can. And I always read everything before I sign. Call it slight paranoia. lol... But thanks for the tip.

To be honest, none. We have 2 semi sponsored RD's in the US. That's more than enough. If the market were bigger or we actually made a decent profit, it would be more.

Sorry my man. I will be more than willing to review one for you and give you some pointers though.

do not shoot for the big international companies first dude.

Find a motorsport shop near you. Maybe you have already gotten work done there. Go and hang out with the guys, make friends and shoot the shit. Offer to help where it is needed, show them what YOU have to offer to THEM.

When the time is right, and you already have a feel for what their answer will be, make the decision to ask. Dont' just say "Can you sponsor me? I want free shit..." Again, tell them what YOU have to OFFER them. Maybe before asking for a sponsorship get a friend to have some work done on his car at the shop, show them you are CAPABLE of making them money. wink1.gif

Use your head.
