^^i agree, around here, there's not alot of hyundai's. even though after i just bought my car, there's still not enough hyundai's to go around lol. but just 2 months ago til now, i have been seeing more and more of them driving around lately.

after i bought my car, everybody at work and local stores when i stop by there, they alway asking questions about tiburons and hyundais, and now they're very interested in getting one themselves. my opinion, hyundai's are very good vehicles i have experienced compared to others, and i'm definitely seeing bright future for the company, especially when they're affordable for import vehicles, and pretty good gas mileage compared to americanized cars. lol when i tell people how much average cost for tiburons, their jaws literally drops, and i always laugh.

i certainly hope the tiburon line never ends!! but that's just an obsessed person's hope lmao.gif and of course hope they just keep gettin better and better, but hey nothing ever beats the classic originality, RD1/RD2 are definitely the best ever!!!!!

2008 Will be the very last year for the Tiburon. Multiple threads were created on Hyundai Aftermarket with all the information:

Here's just some of the info:

QUOTE
With the all-new Hyundai Genesis coupe coming down the pipeline in 2009 as a 2010 model, the current Hyundai coupe, the Tiburon, will cease to exist. This isn’t really a shock, since there’s not enough room in the line-up for two coupes. The 2008 model year will be the Tiburon’s last, and it will stop production as the Genesis goes on sale in the spring of 2009.

We can’t say we’ll miss the Tiburon  it’s time has come. During the first quarter of 2008 its sales were down 28.7%.

John Krafcik, product development vice president for Hyundai Motor America, says the Tiburon will be produced until the new rear-wheel-drive Genesis coupe goes on sale next spring, in which then the Tiburon line will be completely shut down.

Alot more over on HA.... smile.gif

This saddens me greatly. I want HKC's signature to be the next Tiburon.

for some reason it says my login is bad there so i can't read the full thing but i can concur. personally i think those statements are unofficial and falsified. if he was quoted and the statements cited from a good source then the reason is they will stop the production of the 2009 tiburon in 2009 to focus on the genesis. the question that is not answered is no room for two coupes where? surely not just in one place. why would he say that when there was an interview with him answering a question like he's aware of the tiburon enthusiasts and doesn't want to have them forced into the genesis. they will cease the production of the tiburon until they can whip out all the sales they can get. time change though so who's to say later on down the road they won't say "we generated more sales then the first gen tiburon, no need to rewind at all".

i read another article on the genesis of one of those stooges saying at this point Hyundai is upping its image and quality so the reasoning in the design of the genesis coupe is based on designs that didn't sell in the past hence the big usage of cues from cars, and above ALL they're trying to push number of sales on it. by doing this they reach out to so much more people and gain new confidence and there's going to be an insane amount of new and old brand supporters like us. the genesis coupe design is not about a designer passionately designing a hot sex symbol for his wife (which is what i'd want) but a carefully planned focus-group driven seed that will re-grow hyundais future market, and it's working. loneshark had this figured out at the genesis coupe thread. it's all market strategy--european market strategy is nearly always "hot sex symbol for wife" route, win customers by making a TT instead of selling out. At this point, all they can do though is sell out in hopes that the next generation of sales will be nearly doubled and not more of the same tiburon crap.

i left out the fact that by the next time we heard from the tiburon we wouldn't be grannies. they're definitely going the camaro route. there's probably going to be an 8-12 year gap from 2009. so we'll be hearing something in 2019. There were no dates though, so dates are my prediction.

i'm not saying i'm right, or predicting the tiburon will cease is a bad prediction in fact it's also a proper prediction and as we all know things change. but if you look at their current investments in california, michigan and alabama and germany, all of the information would make sense. this information i got was also cited and quoted or else i wouldn't be saying so.

We all knew it was going to stop, if you thought it would keep going after the "failure" that is the GK, you are insane.

The GK was supposed to be the "breakout" for Hyundai, and the 2.7L failed it. The RD sold better every year, then the GK came and sold better, then dropped, because it's a POS. The newest one is the best, but folks won't look back at it because they know it's heritage.

Give it 2 to 5 years, it'll be back. If not, then who cares? The Genesis FTW!

^agreed.

and the article i read didn't say they wouldn't change the name of the tiburon. it's probably going to be the same car, but under a different name. it's necessary for the company image to drop the name, but unfortunate for us. i personally thought "tiburon" was the best car name, most original car theme, and badge design ever created.

so speculations were right about them coming out with another RWD turbo coupe based on the Veloster. so basically it'll be a rebadged tiburon with with turbo. who knows if this will be the one my article was referring to. i think it will be.
