Red Light Cameras
These things are EVERYWHERE now here. So if you're ever in Upstate, NY....dont ever run a red light....
There are 32 intersections with them now, and there are plans to go up to 75 by early next year. Whats bad is that alot of people are getting tickets for even going through yellow lights. Theres a HUGE flaw with them that the city is trying to work out.

News flash: it's not a flaw in the system. The way to increase safety/decrease accidents at intersections is to make yellow lights longer and have pauses between when one side goes red and the other goes green. This is not news. Red light cameras are a way to convince the gullible you have their interest at heart while you take their money. ONLY.

Check local laws. As I've said 100x in the past, most cameras (at least in my area) are operated by independent companies not law enforcement and hold no legal binding in court.

the problem is most of the local laws deem them to be different than moving violations
in NM they declared speeding and running red lights to be a "public nuisance" (they originally got support to pass that law to ticket people throwing parties) so that way you can get a ticket for being a nuisance
in all reality if you ran a red light in front of a cop you can be ticketed for running the light by the cop, then get a ticket in the mail for being a public nuisance
last i heard they got rid of the cameras though, the new mayor demanded a 3rd party study to see if they are actually helping
