Recall
hmm, my car had the problem was covered under the recall and the dealer fixed it under an hour, now my seatbelts retract without getting twisted inside the thing. All I can say is, if it hadn't been covered under the recall, I'd have purchased the parts and installed them myself.
For some reason mine is overly sensitive to the brake. I understand its supposed to lock up sometimes, but everytime my foot is on the brake it locks and I can't lean forward at all. My mom got a recall letter for her Tib which had the same problem and they fixed it. I take mine, which is a year newer, to the dealer and they tell me they have never heard of this recall. Morons.

I was thinking they just put some ugly plastic pieces on the seatbelt retractor bracket. Isn't that it? I just reach up and un-twist it. No biggie.
Yes, its just a peice of plastic that stops the belt guide from swiveling too far. It completely matches the color of the interior and isn't "ugly". You wouldn't know it didn't belong there, if you didn't know about the recall.
No biggie? True, it was an annoyance. Same as the cup holder being right in front of the radio. But those are the things that make the difference in people liking or not liking a car, the little annoying things. Especially for commuters.

The big deal is, and the reason why it IS a recall is that if your seatbelts twist regularly, you will see it as a hassle and stop wearing them.
Not good.

the dealer did that to me when I had the wheel bearing done... without asking me. I never had a problem with the belts before.. and now AFTER the recall was done.. my belt gets stuck everytime I use it... thankfully, the mechanic left the original parts in the car instead of throwing them away... so I going to have an new project soon.
I never figured out what they did when they did my seatbelts. But I agree totally with REDZ. I think the purpose of the recall is that the seatbelts became uncomfortable and would twist, and people could possibly stop wearing them because of the hassle and problems. I don't think it was a safety issue with the actual seatbelts, but it was more that they were made uncomfortable and difficult, and people could stop wearing them because of that. It wasn't a big deal, but I didn't always wear my seatbelt back then so I'm not sure what all they did before they replaced the recall part.
It took about an hour for them to do. Don't know how much of that time was actually spent on my car, but that's how long I was without it.
