Relating to this article though, pretty amazing the sorta monopoly created. I don't pay attention to much mainstream news or watch live TV anymore so most of this doesn't really bother me anymore.

I should try to stay off the internet when i'm trying to quit smoking...lol...I did apologize on V.org though

No, your observations are correct. They are quickly gaining a bad rep for being ignorant and childish all over the other hyundai sites. Admins have steped in with threads saying knock it off but still no one cares.

I guess we all have our "home" sites and everyone of us has something to say about "the other hyundai site". It's really human nature. Some comments are true, others are just biased. But when Auto guide steps in on their own website and says knock it off, that should give you a clue. Very similar to how some of us here feel about gencoupe. For heavens sake, there is a whole thread on this site complaining about them.

Everyone gets pissy now and then. Sometimes my bipolar issues get in my way of clear thinking. But I just learn to deal with the punishment afterwords. Generally I think I'm an OK guy. So do most of my friends, but they will be the first to tell you I'm a wack job sometimes...lol

The type of music matters not to me. The point is, lack of competition is bad. Period.

I understand that. There are independant record lable. Cibo Matto started out small. They are japanese and didnt sell more than 20,000 albums in japan. But the did well here. They even teamed up with the beastie boys for a song

Nine inch nails started on a small lable and look what happened to them. One of the most well known bands in the 90's. There is competition. You just have to look for it.

The problem is, society is brainwashed to an extent...now listen...because it is going to sound like I am back tracking...All the major television and music studios DO try to dictate what we listen to, yes. But if it isnt a formula that works, then why is it working. America has turned into a new is better society...it is the generation of the "app". Yes compitition is great, but like i said, the formula works. "That's my jam girl. Turn it up" is working. It's not a bad thing that it is well organized to work. The major studios have every right to do focus groups and to conduct studies and to force bands to sell out to fit the image. They have every right to do what they want. It's capatalism. The government isn't making the majority of america listen to non offensive mind numbing music, it's capitalism...and apparently it works. Look at the average prime time network show...do you realize at one time there were 4 spin off shows from law and order? and everyone of them was successflu...because the formula works. Compitition IS EXACTLY what is needed, but the "app" generation doesn't car as long as "their jam" is only a dollar on I-tunes and who cares if they delete it when it isnt popular...it was only a buck. How many rap artists can you count that are still relevant today as they were in say 1994...I can think of any. Because it is all based on focus group studies about what will sell NOW! Not what will sell for 20 years. Thats why albums like dark side of the moon and Pearl Jam's Ten still sell. they didnt conform to the formula. There are some of us that appreciate art. But so many people now are captivated by formulas. I believe in the right to capitalize on the here and now. It is our freedom to do so thank God...literally, Thank God for blessing this country for the success it has seen. Everyone complains about 4 dollar gas...what about third world countries where there are not enough cars to make a gas station profitable.

The entertainment industry SUCKS...PERIOD. But it only sucks to people like you and me that actually care. But to blame it on big business is wrong...blame it on the focus groups who like what the companies are offering for product...blame it on the average everday person that doesnt care whether a song will still be on their ipod in a few months. It's not the fault of big business...big business is simply doing what it excels at! Selling the masses what they WANT.

Just food for thought

oh and one more tid-bit...what about the folks who stop listening to a band because one of the songs ends up on the radio? How many "cool" and "trendy" people say "yeah that band was good until they got popular. Now I'm to good to listen to them"...just an oposite point

The current model work because we have no choice do to lack of competition. If you want to listen to music on the radio, you don't have a whole lot of choice due to so few companies controlling all of the stations. Lack of competition also hurts artists. Small independent bands have a much harder time getting airplay now than they ever have in the past. This is why I now listen almost exclusively to my iPod. I get to listen to only the music I like without listening to advertisements. I also shut off my TV service and now download commercial free TV. The way I see it, I shouldn't have to pay for TV service and watch advertisements. One or the other... free with ads, or paid without.

the masses don't want competition. They are perfectly happy with four Law and Orders, 3 CSI's and 2 NCIS shows all running at the smae time just different days of the week. If people wern't brainwashed into these formulas, maybe they would want competition. But they are perfectly happy with the cookie cutter tv shows

But are they only happy with those shows because for most people the only other alternative is not watching TV (heaven forbid people actually turn off the TV and go outside)?

fair enough. I don't watch TV. I spend most of my time with my family or on the computer...so you could say the same thing for me. I'm as entertained with forums as my wfe is with television. I suppose it is what to read into.
